Ya sure did get a great deal on the little coop !! The e-bay thingy said $195 buy it now...plus $245 shippin !! Gosh, that's a lot. And ya got it so cheep!! Lucky you! It sure is a cute little coop. It will make a great place for a few chickens. I thought about goin that route...before I made up my mide to get more than a few chicks..My idea is to get about eight.So, my little coop is gonna be a little bigger. I wanted one so I could walk in and beable to clean. And store their food etc. But, ya did get a wonderful deal!! Now, all ya gotta do is wait for your little chicks!!

I will take Steve's advice regarding ventilation, which I too think will be critical. I just hope they will be safe enough outside. I am thinking to try using my "scarecrow" - a motion-detecting rotating water-spitting horror, that unfortuntely can't be used blow freeezing. It kept everyone out of my corn for the past few years, tho it was unfenced. The same company makes a similar device that spits puffs of air. It uses startle, mostly. Also, the chicks will be inside my privacy fence.

And Kelly from SC, have you decided if you are going the hatchery route, or try hatching your own eggs, or what?

I hope you're still reading this old thread.

I just purchased one of these, used. Unfortunately, we had to take it apart to get it inside the van -- and the original owner didn't have the plans any more. Now, I can *probably* figure out how to get it back together....but I'm hoping that you have some plans you can email me, or otherwise get to me, fo rhelp with the reassembly.

And for anyone else who's wondering about these -- it looks to be a nice coop. Probably not strong enough to keep out a raccoon, but stronger than just plain chicken wire. It's light enough to move, which I plan to do with it. I personally wouldn't want to keep many standard sized birds in it, but it's exactly the right size for the use I'm going to put it to (I want birdie weed pullers for the spaces between my raised veggie beds).
