My DH originally agreed to 4. Then I added 2. MPC sent 7 total (a 'packing peanut' was included). We gave away one, have one pending give away, and so I can keep 2 of the chicks I just hatched. Then I negotiated for adding 4 more to the swingset coop (10 chickens total). I failed to mention that the tractor will be a banty pen... We'll get to that later

He's currently focused on the fact that I said I had plans for all the hamster tanks he wanted me to give away. I haven't actually mentioned the button quail to him yet

But wondering what I'm up to with the tanks has kept him from asking about the tractor long-term plans

I think SO / spouse management is a combination of training, rewards, and mystery.
And I gotta keep him essentially happy, since he does more laundry and dishes than I do, vacuums, and dusts. He's a neat freak and I love him for it!!!

My husband made the mistake of saying 52 "laying hens". Well they don't all lay every day, and some are too young to, and some aren't chickens at all....

My husband stays out of my chicken business.
He knows I enjoy them and they make me happy.
And as the old saying goes...
When momma ain't happy NObody's happy.
So my dh likes me to be happy!

I appreciate his patients on the matter.
One thing I told him before I got my chickens.

I only have this one life on this earth.
I want to make it a happy one.
I do not want to be old and say...
I really wanted some chickens but my husband wouldn't let me..
Boy that would be sad now wouldn't it.

So now I have chickens and goats and cats and lots of dogs and a bunny:D

I've been telling my DH this for YEARS!!!! But he doesn't buy into it

Says I'm selfish :| Selfish???? If I was selfish, why would I do everything for everyone, including putting HIS clothes away because he is too lazy and finding the juice because it was "hidden" behind the milk...... I swear... why can't men learn to look under and behind things????

I think my husband is just glad they're more birds and not more dogs. Apparently 1 Bloodhound = 3 regular dogs, and there's no way I can have more than one hound at a time. I haven't asked what the horse quota is.

I'm actually under chicken quota at the moment as I lost two and gave six away, and will soon be down another three. Not that he counts them, but he said he will impose a chicken audit and go in with a shotgun if i'm over LOL Quail are another matter, he actually said I should get some more

I think he's trying reverse psychology.

Marriage is a partnership.
It is not a dictatorship, by the wife or the husband.
It is not 50%-50% it is 100%-100%.
As long as both believe that and strive for it, then things should be great.

My husband enjoys flipping houses...
I love my animals...
So I go with him to look at houses, I help him with decorating decisions etc.
and he leaves me alone about my chickens.....
Works out good.

If I pay for the feed, do the maintenance, and the neighbors don't complain, should'nt that make DH's limits null and void?

I'm thinking about that as my next argument...
