My temps are stable between 99 and 100 humidity is another thing.....If I add water even a little it spikes and if I don't add water it drops to between 27 and 30 in a matter of hours....this is my first time so we will see...keep your fingers crossed for me...LOL:)

My RH has been dropping a little each day. Running in the high 40s to low 50s after adding water. Temp steady between 99.5-99.8. Candled one of the eggs last night (day 5?) and no veins seen.

Though the air sac seems stable now.

Question - obviously I am a complete newbie - if I put the eggs in on Thursday, Sept 29 at 9 am, is that day 1? And then yesterday, Monday, Oct 3: day 5?

I broke down and candled last night and could see veining....it was only day 3 for me...It may be that you just couldn't see it in that 1 egg...also my eggs are mottled old english game bantam eggs so mine are probably a little easier to see.....temps seem good if it is a forced air..... from what I read on BYC...Good luck and keep us updated...

Day 1 would be on Friday once they have been in the incubator for 24 hours so that would put you on day 5 today.

I put a modest 8 eggs into my homemade incubator on the 29th. I candled last night, at 4 days, and it looks like 6 of them are developing. My flock consists mostly of cochins, with an EE, a light brahma, a frizzle, and a few mutts thrown in for variety. Eventually, I'll have everyone separated into groups so I'll know what I'm going to get from each egg, but for now, it will be a surprise!
