Anyone else setting eggs this weekend? 8-3-12?

Checked today and all 17 are doing awesome! The real test is coming up after lockdown.

Lockdown for me is tomorrow...I'm so nervous!

I just added 10 more eggs to my incubator. I am going to have to candle again today and pull out quitters. I have 6 more eggs coming this week, so in order for their to be room I need to get rid of those quitters. Unless they are clear, weeping, stinking etc. I have a hard time just pitching them until close to lock down...especially if they are dark shelled eggs. I am so afraid of throwing a growing egg away. But in this case, I have to make room.

The 10 eggs I added are from Whole Foods and are basically an experiment to see if the local pasture raised eggs they sell are fertile. I bought two packages of six. Cracked one from each one...one was fertile, one was not. So I just decided to set them all and see how it goes.

Can't wait for all the hatching to begin on this thread though...love seeing the pictures of the babies.

What day did you set? Before the 3rd? I set on the 3rd and I thought lockdown is 18 days after, which would make it the 21st. Right? I've never done this before.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a staggered hatch. Your using the same incubator right? My two sets are 5 days apart.

I actually have 2 incubators going with what will end up 4 staggered hatch dates. I will just have to play musical eggs on a few days. They are all far enough apart that it shouldn't be a problem.

And regarding the lock down questions. I usually take my turner away, bump up the humidity and not open the incubator any more sometime after the evening of the 18th day and before mid-day on the 19th day of incubation. It really depends on what we have going on and when I get to those days. Once I almost forgot....oops.

My hatch date is 5 days apart from one another and I have only one incubator. . I pray it works!

day 15 for me now ,does anyone put cheesecloth on bottom of incubator for hatch or just leave grid as is?

I bought cheesecloth. I also put a plastic liner at the bottom as well. I want to keep the bator as clean as possible.

2 more days before lockdown! I'm sooooo nervous! 5 days after that is my second lockdown in the same incubator.
