Anyone else setting eggs this weekend? 8-3-12?

day 15 for me now ,does anyone put cheesecloth on bottom of incubator for hatch or just leave grid as is?

Sorry I can't help you, I don't have that kind of incubator. But I have read where people have put something down...mostly to help in cleaning up. I have seen people use shelf liner, paper towels etc....so I think cheesecloth would be ok.

So I candled tonight again...had to make some room in the incubator for more eggs coming this week. I ended up pitching from both incubators 20 eggs. :( I am now down to the following in my large incubator: 2 Ameracuana, 6 FBCM, 3 Partridge Penedesencas, 1 Barred rock, 1 Jersey Giant, 1 Brahma and the 10 eggs from Whole Foods I just set on Saturday morning. In my smaller incubator I still have 6 cream legbar eggs...I ended up pitching all seven Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons. :( And in the big incubator, of the 6 FBCM, I really only think a few of them are growing, but I hesitate to pitch them because the shells are so dark I really can't tell for sure. So I will leave them and let them do their thing until hatching time. And regarding the cream legbar eggs, it is iffy regarding them...some might be growing, some might be quitters. They are on day 10, so I will give them some more time and candle again around day 14.

I said if I had 10-12 hatch I would be super excited....it is just the way it goes with shipped eggs sometimes.

Did you buy off eBay? I lost one out of 18 and 6 were shipped. Of course the shipped egg was scrambled.:/. I'm surprised none of the other shipped eggs were ruined.

Now I wonder if all 17 will make it? They all candled well. Lockdown for the 5 shipped eggs is tomorrow and I'm using the one incubator. I'm thinking of leaving the egg turner in there and taking out the sections and putting a barrier, so if a chick hatches in the night, it can't make it over to the egg turner. I'll have to watch the humidity and make sure it never goes over 60%. This just might work.

I hope you get a better hatch then you expect!

I'm so excited!!!! Will post pics if anything hatches. Have 12 more Silkie eggs coming right after this, so I don't even get a break.

Good luck! I keep watching mine in case they move! Good luck! I hope everyone here has a great hatch!

I got mine on eBay and it worked out well. The packing was perfect, wrapped in bubble wrap packed in Styrofoam peanuts in a box that was in a larger box packed in peanuts. candling went well and now I have hope that my Orpington is broody, only 4 days from the hatch.

We have a pip hole!!!!!! I just checked & one of the Sebright eggs (probably the one I saw moving the other day) has a tiny hole. Let the hatching begin...
