Anyone else waiting for thier first egg?

19 weeks 4 days and I'm still waiting, too! I had to swap for two already laying hens so I would calm down a little

I am still not even checking for eggs. Yet, here I am on this thread so I must be thinking about it.

I have several breeds at 18 - 19 weeks now: 3 light brahmas, 1 white EE, 3 Jersey Giants, 3 Black Sex Link, and 2 Red Leghorns. All were purchased as young chicks on May 1st. I think Brahmas and Jersey Giants start laying later than some breeds.

Purchased near the end of May (about 14 weeks) 4 EE (one is a roo), 2 Partridge Rocks.

Purchased June 4th (about 13 weeks) I have 3 Silver Lace Wyandottes and 5 Golden Comets.

The other 16 chicks are way younger and still in my small coop. They are 3 Americuana, 5 Welsummers, 2 Faverolles, and 6 Buff Orpingtons.

Someone in the big coop is investigating the nest boxes because the bedding is scratched in. One chicken sleeps in a nest box, same one every night.

Except for the oldest EE and my Black Sex Links, I probably won't be getting eggs till October.

had a meeting with my hens today about the lack of eggs, and they had the nerve to tell me they would form a commitee and get back to me in a few weeks on the egg laying problem!!!!

My Cochin hen is 22 wks. Still waiting. Her comb and waddles r crimson red. When I went to catch her today I grabbed her legs and lifted her up, her vent practically fell open. It was kinda disturbing. With a vent that loose I don't think she'll even noticed she laid an egg.

I am waiting too, everytime I have a smaller egg I try to decide if it's really small enough to be a pullet egg but I think my hens are just teasing me so far. It is funny to watch the pullets get closer and closer, combs getting taller, getting redder, legs getter more yellow. I have 3 Barred Rocks that look ready and 3 that don't and they are the same age!
I got a kick out of your comment SassyT, my hubby has a coniption every time one of the hens doesn't lay, God forbid we feed them and they don't produce like rabbits!

On Saturday, I told my flock they better get started before I bring over the BBQ and salt. Sunday morning while I was painting the 2nd coop, I heard the "chicken laying song". Acouple of hours later I found 2 eggs ! YAY!

At a day shy of 18 weeks, I'm waiting, too.

My poor hens are wondering about my sanity, since the only thing I ever say to them any more is "So, when you gonna lay me an egg?"
