Anyone ever criticize you about having to many animals...

It's gotten to where I've even been told that my kids have the right to resent me because I have animals (my boss at the veterinary clinic of all people!he also thinks I should be shopping for a 'new' daddy for my kids - uh, no, not ready). I am constantly told that I need to get a 'real' life. So, I guess I need to get rid of the animals and start, what, bar-hopping? I am not a very social person, never have been, but I thoroughly enjoy my animals. They get me out of the house and doing things. Most of my life is taken up with a job I detest and, I don't do the social outing thing well. So, what else is there? I guess I could sit at home and watch Judge Judy and Desperate Housewives like my mother does, but, ewww, I am not a huge fan of TV, either. Give me dogs and birds anyday, I like that.

Near where I live, we have 2 large public ponds that has ducks (tame and wild), and it looks like a year around flock of Canadian geese. I have even went to the length of saying out loud (on a city bus), "look at all of that food on the wing", just to see what kind of responses I'd get from people on the bus. LOL

Varied responses and looks! LOL

I've even seen a regular bus rider, with his son, catch a bus with fishing gear, and a bucket full of water and fish they've caught out of a local creek.

Only people that have no right doing so (normally they have more than they should and way more than me! haha). Well..unless you count my husband and father. They do, too. :)

I am blessed. My grandpa was a farmer for his entire life. He is now 88 (woot!!) and had to give up the farm 20 years ago. So, all of my cousins, aunts etc are totally envious that I am walking in his footsteps. Plus Grandpa would give them down the road if they mocked me...lol.

My farm gives him reason to reminisce and then they and their children benefit from the stories that he tells of his childhood.

Now, my sister is another story, but I am pretty sure that she was adopted (family joke) so its okay that she is a butt about my farm life!

Farm families rock!!!

Husband.

Actually, my aunt lives with us (we help her out) and the day I found out I was pregnant she immediately said I was going to have to cut back on chickens. Being a slightly hormonal pregnant woman, I felt like telling her (with explicits added) "This is my house and I'm not asking you to do anything, you're about to get me in a fight with my husband, I suggest you back off."

Definitely and it gets tiresome! I have always been the "odd" one though I guess, so in some respects, I am used to it. What I don't understand is why they think it is ok? I don't make fun of them for spending all their money on things I think are dumb, like cars, fake nails, or whatever. Live and let live!

Constantly... And its the same with my family they give crap about it but Love to eat the eggs and meat.... They are giving me a hard time about my spring order as well.. The funny thing is when we arent having to buy any meat at the store , theyll change their tune...
