Anyone ever feed clover?

I fed my girls clover tonight and at first they were afraid to approach it so I pulled out the purple nectar sections and put it in my hand and they went NUTS. Any of you farm folk that have ever eaten that part of the flower know that it tastes like sweet honey. They love it more than the mealworms I have given them.

We have clover growing in our yard, and our chickens love it! I ate the flowers as a kid and showed my kids how to pluck out the petals and chew the super-sweet white parts

We don't feed deliberately, just whenever the pen gets moved to the "clovery" part of the yard, but they love it - the flowers and the bees that hang around in it!
