Anyone ever kept a wild animal as a pet

Found an abandoned duckling once. Turned out to be a wood duck. Raised him with my Runner ducks I had at the time. He would always perch on the walnut tree by the pond. Stayed around for a couple years. He'd fly off to the pond back in the woods, stay a few days and then come back to eat.
Raised a young Jake turkey too. He ran around with the chickens for about three years before the neighbors dogs got him. Guess he got complacent with ours not bothering him and they supposed him.
Had a little slider turtle for about 4 years when I was younger. My cousin's boyfriend caught it at the river and have it to me. Once he got the size of a slider bun we turned him loose in the duck pond. Feed worms, crickets and vegetables up until then.
Buddy raised a couple deer on different occasions. First was a little doe who eventually inter grated into the wild herd. You could always pick her out because during the summer she'd be up in his yard with a fawn for the first couple years. Second was a buck but he ended up getting mean during the rut after a few years.

When growing up we free ranged our chickens. sometimes duck or a guinea fowl would jion them. Had wild mallards stay for a couple years. We had a hawks stay with us. It was a baby we hadcut down the tree it was in. It stayed long enough for us to find a rescue place. I don't believe any wild animal should be kept as a pet.

Hi all I just wondered if anyone has anyone has got or has ever had a wild animal as a pet?

I have kept lizards for a few days. Mostly fence lizards. I never keep them for more than a few days though. I used to go on cricket hunts with my dad too, but we only keep crickets for a few minutes before releasing them.

Other than that, I also used to "have" a crawfish that I didn't want my dad to kill. He was from the supermarket and wasn't really a pet. I was really young at that time and couldn't see him die. Spoilers: He still did. That was back when our local markets actually sold live crawfish.

Not sure if these count as "wild animals" though. Mostly just reptiles.

A couple of coons, a squirrel, several turtles, and even had a praying mantis, but they only live about a year, and they do not do much. The best wild pet that I had was a skunk. Of course his name was Stinky. Took awhile to find a vet that would remove his glands, but finally did when he was still really young. However, not before he actually sprayed inside the house. At the time I did not think he was old enough to spray, but found out he was when the cat freaked him out a bit. They do make really great pets, though.
