Chicks just left Cleveland on a truck to NJ. Scheduled delivery to my local PO is on Wednesay. Its supposed to be single digits Tuesday night. Has anyone ever contacted the USPS and picked up their chicks enroute, basically intercepting them?

They should call you when they get to the sorting office for your postal district...usually a larger town with an airport. Which is recomended anyway. Post on your state thread see if anyone has the phone number ... I know in I'LL the regular post offices don't even have the number.

I did last year when my chicks got stuck in a big city and had already been in the mail for 4 days. I called the sorting facility which was in the next town over and they called me when they arrived (At one in the morning) and I went to pick them up

When my chicks were on their way, the post office actually called me to tell me that my chicks were at the sort facility which was about 30 minutes away from me. They told me it was too late for them to make it out on the truck to our local post office, so I could either come get them myself or they'd have to sit overnight. I was very thankful they took the time to give me that option rather than just letting them sit another night.

Another time, I had an express chick delivery that got stranded somewhere, but I was never able to track down anyone that could/would help me find them. Ended up taking several days to get them. Thankfully, we only lost a couple.

It's definitely worth making some phone calls if you are concerned about it.
