Anyone ever see an egg like this before…..

(I’ll try to attach photos). I found this duck egg on my goats’ house floor, in the straw. It is normal in both shape and size, but the color is quite odd. When I first picked it up, it was even darker. I rinsed it a little and it has gone from a black to a dark gray .

Has anybody ever seen this before? Does it mean anything( such as deficiencies or illnesses)?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Blue Swedish Mix, Black Swedish Mix, Khaki Campbell, Cayuga, Indian Runner( both Blue & Fawn and White, Silver Appleyard, Rouen, Call Ducks, and White Crested.

It is a Cayuga egg, so nothing wrong with the colour.

Looks like a Cayuga to me!

My Cayuga produced sharpie black eggs, that faded to that color and then lighter grey in the fall. We joked she was running out of ink. In the spring, after her winter break, she was back to black again!! It's normal. Like how a robin makes blue eggs.

That’s definitely a Cayuga egg!! Anconas lay that color too, so I get black eggs!! It’s so fun!!
