Time sensitive. I have a "California Tan" hen that is about 3 years old. Today I noticed that she was hunching her tail like she was prepping to be mounted by a rooster or was about to push out an egg.

She was eating and socializing normally. I picked her up to see if she was visibly injured,( she was not), but I noticed that her abdomen was swollen and inflated feeling. It felt similar to a inflated rubber ball from the grocery store wire bin.

The feathers around the base of her tail looked a little sloppy....but I live in WA State and has been raining a lot.

I have not changed the type of food or scratch, but Santa added a feed block to their yard just a week ago.

She is a regular layer, but I am not sure who lays what at times because I have 4 of that variety.

I have never seen her struggle with health issues before and there are no visible wounds, pests, or prolapse.

I did a little homework and I am concerned about "Water Belly" or that she is possibly "egg bound".

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased her from Tractor Supply.
