This girl is about 2 years old and I noticed she has her tail tucked for the last 3 days. We felt her belly, rear, and vent. Everything seems ok. We probed inside her vent to check for an egg, but did not feel anything. She is acting normal, otherwise. She is eating, drinking, scratching, and pecking around. Am I paranoid or does this indicate a problem?

You know your hens better than we do, if you feel she's acting or looking off, give her a good going over.

Look for lice/mites, any wounds/scabs or injuries that may be bothering her. Look at her feet, nails, legs (bottom of feet too) for anything that may be concerning. Note if she's molting which may be making her feel a bit poorly.

Check to make sure her crop is emptying overnight.

Observe her throughout the day to see if she's eating/drinking and relatively active.
