Anyone expecting on May 10th....

I candled, all ten that made it this far are fine. So off we go.... The smaller pullet eggs look a tad behind. And they are running slower than the schedule so I'm just on a wait and see hatch date. Luck to all with peepers already!

Well my count is up to 6 keets, 3 EE mix, 1 Bantam mix... 5 pipping and zipping and 3 of each bantam, guinea, EE mix still playing it cool...

I found for the ones with the unabsorbed yolk that I liked making a little bag out of press and seal wrap, like a little sleeping bag, and just left their heads out. It seemed to keep them warmer and moist enough to just rest and absorb.

I used it on my disaster hatch to pretty good effect. I almost lost one under a damp cloth, found it too cool and very weak, bagged him up set him nearer the heat and he made it. You could probably do it with saran wrap too but I don't use that any more.

I just moved my broody tonight to a nice enclosure in the coop with a nice nest, food and water. I was very nervous about it b/c she has been in her nesting box this whole time. She is due the 10th. I stayed in there a while and she settling in with a few low noises. She seems OK. Also, tried to candle and couldn't see anything. I sure hope we have some hatching on Sunday! Good luck to all!

Edited to say....the move did not work. She was off her eggs this morning.

I ran a small batch this time as a friend wanted some of my Welsummers. 4 out of the 6 hatched throughout the night and #5 is popping out right now .......don't know what #6 is going to do, hasn't even pipped yet but was still rocking last night before I went to bed.

Come on little chickie!

ok i haven't posted in a while and here is whats new....

I started out with 15 -12 being countrybumkins. 3 of hers were unfertile and 2 had bloodrings. out of my three 1 had a bloodring and the other two are in the bator.

i have nine eggs in the bator - today is day 18- Yah!!!!

two are mine and 7 are countrybumkins

two of hers have two babies in them. I Definately know that atleast one in each is alive but i am not sure about the others.

Right now the temp is 100 and the humidity is about 65. The bator is taped so i cannot go in it, and i am not even going to think about candling or helping the double eggers until day 22 (mostly because they look a day or two behind the normal sized eggs.)

Hmm I have a double yolk I just set this week. Hope both go. So far I'll I've set only had one go and one quit. Good luck. That group of eggs is six turkey and oh 20ish of PR or PR/BR. Should be a nice group.

These final ten chicks due this week are all still a go.
