I have only watched some of the trial. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news.....
But my biggest concern by far is that the prosecution doesn't even have enough evidence to go to trial, let alone get a conviction.
There is a lot of suggestion and suspicious looking stuff, but frankly, I don't see anything that would be sufficient to bring a case to a jury, or a judge. Let alone convict.
Yet. I hope 'yet', anyway.
I am very seriously hoping the prosecution has yet to show their good stuff, but I am afraid they just really do not have anything solid. This is often the problem with family crimes. There just isn't a lot of evidence. On the other hand when a crime involves money, trafficking etc, proof is often much easier to find.
You can't convict someone of a murder charge by showing that they are a messed up, callous, uncaring jerk, a bad mother. Frankly, I think both parents as well as the daughter were involved in what happened. But proving what happened, is a problem. A man's home is his castle and he can hide a lot of things that happen in his home.
Sure, sure there is lots of creepy stuff that happened. She searched for stuff on her computer. Great. She bought a shovel, her car stinks. They have had a very dysfunctional family. People thought she was a bad mother.
That just is not sufficient to prove she murdered that child.
The plain fact is this. A murder conviction means destroying a person's life. They will get the death penalty, or life in prison. Even if they get out before they die, their life is destroyed. They won't be able to get a job, vote, rent, nothing. Their life is over.
The standards for proving a murder conviction are therefore, extremely high. And the prosecution is not meeting those standards.
Yet. I hope.
