Anyone from Missouri?

DAN! I love the pictures.
You guys do know my wife thinks I am totally nutz. Chickens are cool, but I guess she draws the line at me calling her to come look at pictures while she is in the shower. oh well, I just won't share with her!

lol. See you all at Marshall next week.

Not yet. We are susposed to get them the end of next month. I am going to call the hatchery Monday and make sure we are still good to go. Maybe they will tell me they had an early hatch

and we can come down and pick them up.
I am really looking forward to going down and seeing their operation.

I can say from personal experience...It is like walking into a candy store

I bet the hatchery is a real neat place. I don't think I could control myself.
I have 18 turkey eggs in the bator. I have 11 days left. I has been a loooong wait. I hope all turns out well.

Have fun at the Candy Store.

My dh had to stop me or I would have been out of control. Mondays and Wednesdays are their busiest days. If you have a specific breed in mind I would call and be sure they had them on the day you go.

Oh my...I couldn't agree more. We drove down to pick our birds up and found up they had accidentally mailed them the day before. Oh well...it was only a 3 1/2 hour drive each way...

They felt bad and let us choose 5 pullets or 5 exotics as compensation for time and travel and hassle. I ended up picking Marans, which you can't get as sexed out of the catalog, and they gave me an odd one I'm trying to figure out still. She was the only one of her kind in that brooder.

I could have spent another couple hundred dollars there, but with the birds we got we're already pushing the envelope as far as coop capacity. We have 12 hens, 1 roo, and then I brought home 6 pullets to go with the 30 that were waiting here. Actually 31...but one died the first night. She'd been kinda squashed in the box anyhow, and one lost from 37 isn't a bad deal.

They were very nice people and extremely apologetic about the mixup. My birds are beautiful and I'm going to have all kinds of colors in my yard, which is what I was wanting. I got Ameraucanas, Turkens, White Wyandottes, and then the Marans and the mystery bird.

As soon as they start laying my white layers are going bye-bye to the freezer. I've discovered I don't care for the temperaments of Leghorns or Leghorn hybrids at all. They're too flighty and sometimes downright aggressive. I'll keep my Black Stars and my one SL Wyandotte, and the roo, a Turken we rescued from Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. He's something else. I get a real kick out of him.

Here in Warrensburg, we did OK. Not too much storm damage. We are getting winds this evenning though.
Let the New calf (Clarrisa) out of the barn today. She is following the baby geese around (Momma goose does not care much for that). The fancy chicks are ready to go into their new, slightly larger pen, and the ones in the brooder are ready to move tot he next pen.
Working on getting my turkey house ready for the new arrivals on 15 may. (50 Bourbon Red poults)
My next big hatch is going to be 100 chicken eggs. Wonder where the heck we are going to put them? I have 35 Courtnix quail eggs in the incubator ready to hatch in the next three days. I read that courtnix quail only take 15 days to hatch out. We'll see if that is true. I set another 45 quail eggs yesterday.
My wife is not happy about the electricity bill from the incubator, but hey! it's all fun. Hope everyone is having a great day and a better weekend.
