I also just noticed you have a CATAHOULA. I have an 11 month old Catahoula boy named Marcello.. Classic grey and black spotting. Unlike any dog breed I have known or kept. Tremendously willful and independent. He has become a wonderful chicken guard and companion. Watch out Coyotes, Bobcat and Cougar. Catahoula on the loose.
My Sussex tail is drying up nicely, hopefully soon to fall off. She has been dragging it over the remaining 22 eggs, though, so it is a bit of a scene in there.

yea you'd think i was cutting its head off... I often catch myself doing exactly what i told my daughter not to do... anyone else do this? lol!

I have a baby! One of my Ameraucanas. Boy, last time I looked it was a small pip, then a couple of hrs. later, I'm in the next room, hear a lot of very loud chirping..and it's out. I could tell by the cry that one was out. Just surprised me that it was that one, with one of the smallest pips of them all.
I've had to open a shell on the other Ameraucana..seems I've also had one pip at the wrong end. The beak was right there, so I chipped away some shell on both sides. I was seeing blood, so after chipping as much as I dared, I put it back in. I can now see the beak, and that will help me know how it is doing. They always smack their little beaks at you when you flash the flash light on them. It is chirping a bit..so that is encouraging.
I have a lot of pips on my beautiful to be...RIR's! So far, all of those pips are in the right place.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to open a few of them up to try to figure out what is going on. You'll know quickly if they are alive or not. If they are alive you will be able to help them. For mine that don't hatch I candle them to find out where the air cell is and then pip the shell and zip off the top. I've learned a lot and it has helped me to have better hatches.

they take breaks, it's hard work to break out of your shell...
