Anyone hatching April 5-7 or so? ALL DONE, READY TO BE LOCKED

I have three babies born last night with 4 more pipped today so far!

I had to help number 3 last night, her head was stuck in there in such a way that when she struggled, only her wing moved.... she was sideways, so her wing was pushing the top of the egg, but she still couldn't get out. I finally broke the top of the egg the rest of the way for her, and she still couldn't get out for about 40 minutes. I was up till 3:20am watching her try to struggle out, she had started her [what should have been final push] about 10:30pm.
When I couldn't stand watching her struggle any more, I tilted the egg to let gravity pull her out, and that didn't work, so I had to dislodge her head.... once I did that, she was partially free and I let her kick the egg the rest of the way off by herself. She was very weak and just layed there, and I thought I broke her neck trying to get her out.

By 3:30, she started moving around again, jumped up and held her head high.... I could finally go to bed. lol
This chicken mothering thing is stressful!!!

I have 10 eggs due to hatch Saturday night or Sunday. One of them has been rocking and rolling all day (day 19). Do they move that much 2 days before or is it going to be an early hatcher?

Also, has anyone had problems with thick egg shells? These shells make grocery eggs look like candy coating. I've never had free range eggs from anywhere else so I dont know if thats typical. I guess I'm just worried about the little guys making it out of the shell.

I locked down on Monday and today is the due date. In fact a came home from work to a live chick in the bator. Just one so far but at least one more egg has a crack in it!

Congrats, Delmar and everyone! Omigosh, finally, the late ones (I think due to a defective heating element) that were in bator #2 are pipping almost into Day 23! A blue Rock and a splash Rock are both hatched, one more BBS Rock is pipped and the first BR from this other bator is pipped, at last! I have a splash Rock! I'm so happy--please be a girl, please be a girl, please be a girl!

I'm doing the Dance of Joy!

Put six assorted in the incubator 18th March; one hatched this morning, there's another on the way and possibly a third for the weekend. They could be anything considering the mix of birds but they are our first!!!
