This bugger went fast! Under 4 hours. This is my first ever chick hatched.

the other one that started piping at the same time still looks the same. I am concerned. I dont know if I should help it.

Which brings me to a couple questions. Should I clean the shell out right away? Humidity hasnt been an issue for me. Also....when is it ok for them to come out of the bator? I have 2 young girls that already want to hold them.............I would imagine I should wait for them to fluff up first.

i'd leave him in there as long as you can to give the others a chance to hatch even if your humidity is and has been fine.

remember they can go two or even three days after hatching without food, they're still absorbing the nutrients from the yolk.

Hey Bigtime!

Congrats!!

Leave the baby in there for a while..won't hurt anything. I don't worry about the shells either until I take the fist baby out. You will probably have another one before you know it. When you see the zip..they can get here fast!

Oh, and no, don't help the other one out..my guess is..she is taking a rest.

A barred rock..love those, one of our fav. hens outside is a barred rock...she's a sweetheart..talks to us, comes up to us.
