anyone hatching around jan. 19th?

Chicky,

Day 18 is when you want to up the humidity in your bator. You should put your eggs in the hatcher at day 18 with your humidity in the high 60's(65-70%). Have the hatcher running a day or two before the switch. that way you know everything is good to go.

Then be patient, that will be the longest 4-5 days you will have experienced. But they will come.

PS. Once eggs are in the hatcher, DON"T open the hatcher for anything. Or as little as possible, due to loss of humidity. You don't want that. If humidity falls too far, chicks will get stuck to the shells as they try to get out of them.

i only had 1 old english bantam hatch out of 3 eggs.

Well...2 pips so far...going very slowly. The first pip has started to zip, but just barely. We awoke to it this morning, so we know it started at least 6 hours ago. It has lots of peeping and nudges the pip up and down.

It's day 20 here.

18 eggs in the incubator...we're having fun

Congrats Grampa! Best of the luck with your hatch!

We now have 4 (out of 18 in the incubator) that have pipped...none hatched so far. The first one pipped some time prior to 6:30am...we've been watching and waiting

14 hours from pip to hatch.

Hopefully, more on the way (17 eggs still intact...4 have pipped).

Here's a pic!

I have 12 eggs I am getting ready to pull out of the turner and start the long wait with. When I set these it seemed like 3 weeks would be an eternity and it has really gone relatively fast, but the distraction of kids helps a lot with this. It is fun to see the pictures Irajoe...gives me hope that we might actually get something. When I candled tonight I saw movement in 8 of them and the others were too dark to tell.

BirdBrain - You're obviously much more accomplished at candling than I am. With our dark shelled RIR and BR, I couldn't see anything but mass after about day 14.

Best of luck with the hatch!!

I can certainly relate to that. When we awoke to a pip at 6:30am, I didn't really think it'd be after 8:00pm before it hatched. My kids have been wired all day!!

We too have 5 that have pipped and are hoping the constant chirp of our first hatch entices the others out of their shell a little faster.
