HA! I would too!! I have 3 on lockdown as of today. I would've had like 20, but temps shot up to 112 for about 3 hours I think!!! I have 3 survivors...hoping they hatch!! I expect them early, likely tomorrow.

I followed that thread....

4 fuzzies this morning drying out in the hatcher, 3 girls, 1 boy and 2 more have pipped, they are working hard on zipping. I don't think the other two eggs are going to do anything.
Congratulations ZooMummzy! Thats a lot of fuzzies! As for your broody hens, just make sure there is food and water for everyone and you are set. Are you going to let mamma's raise these babies completely?

Congrats!!! I officially have 23 in the incubator - 3 not pipped yet - this morning but the last 4 to hatch are looking kinda rough so I'm worried. I got about 90 minutes of sleep, lol so I'm pretty strung out right now

Yes, I am going to let her raise them if she wants. So far she has been just sitting on the nest. I know for sure 1 has hatched but she has 2 more eggs under her. Her food and water has been right by her the whole time and she is good about eating and drinking. I don't know if I should check on the babies or just leave it be.

WARNING! Mamma's may not be to happy about you checking on the babies! Be careful if you do check....my girls were like Atilla the Hun and merciless if I went in there to check, but I did it anyway, they are very protective.
In my experience Mamma's will probably not move to far from them if at all for the first few days maybe even a week...then she will want to take a walk or a break and they (the babies) will undoubtedly follow. Are the Mamma's in the coop with the rest of the flock or did you seperate them. I had a nesting box at floor level with fencing around it so that Mamma could get off her babies when she wanted to and the fencing kept the babies away from any other birds, but my mean and not so nice barred rock hens helped me make a fast decision to move Mamma and her babies out completely as they were trying everything they could to go after those chicks. I loved watching the chicks with their mom, it was great, but not at all like raising them in the brooder and boy were they ever wild little things. After my first two experiences with broody's I decided that I would rather incubate and brood them myself.
