Anyone hatching this week? I know a little late then not at all. :)

And was it? I want a picture!!!

I'm having such a hard time not trying to candle the eggs to see what's going on in there. I really think the last couple days are the worst as far as waiting goes.

Yep, got 2 babies now. That is the good news. The bad news is she decided to quit sitting on the others.

I am putting them in the incubator and crossing my fingers.

They were cold when I found them though so I don't know what the chances are now.

Sweety take a deep breath, I know you have a lot invested in this hatch. Remember though, they have a bigger chance of making it if you don't open during lock down.

So it is a MF OEGB mix?

Uggh, since I was doing a broody hatch and my EE kept putting her eggs in over a week span of time I don't know when to go into lockdown. Oh yeh, in case anyone doesn't know my broody quit sitting on the rest of the eggs and I had to put them in the incubator. I think I might have seen one rocking but, my eyes might have been playing tricks on me. When do ya'll think I should put them in lockdown?

I am weak and have no self control. So, I candled.

At day 20, I still saw quite a bit of light in 5/6 eggs. It seems to be more like the egg around 14 or so days along- real dark on the one side, but as I turn the egg, I'd see light. That was on all but one. The last one seems somewhat more hopeful (i.e. dark), but at this point, I'm resigning myself to this being a dud batch. I'll probably keep the incubator going til Monday or so, just in case they're slow or something. After that, I'll mail my incubator back to Brinsea so they can repair the turning mechanism, and I'll try again once I get it back.

My trio of MF cochin bantams I received from Lynne at Wingshadows are in with a black cochin hen and three other OEGB hens (Tractor Supply chicks last spring). Casanova (the rooster) is quite the fertile fellow; I've started hatching chicks from the OEGB hens as I am curious as to what these combinations will turn out to be.
