This is Ember, (the blue Silkie), she's the one that is not broody anymore.

This is Annie. A sizzle. She just went broody yesterday afternoon.

This is Poppi (the buff silkie). She has an egg that has externally pipped, and one that has internally pipped.

Poppi, eating a persimmon.

congrates to you both. I just got home and one of my four eggs in the incubater has a peep. How long does it take for the chick to come out after peeping and should I help?

Just looked again and another egg is rocking and I hear some peeping. When do I need to take them out of the icubater?
It takes hours for a chick to completely hatch out. Do NOT help them unless you think they aren't going to make it. Also don't take the eggs or chicks out of the incubator, until the chicks have hatched and completely fluffed out.
Let us know how everything goes!

Good luck!

Thanks, watching and waiting like the proud papa. My first attempt at hatching. I have a brood box, chick starter medicated, and chick starter feed. I am fifty three years old on Wednesday and i haven't felt this excited about something for awhile, crazy huh? My only child my daughter will never have children so this is as close as i'll get to grandchildren.

Have been home for over four hours now and the one little hole has only grown to two little holes on the same egg. The two eggs are still moving and i still hear a cheap now and then. I,m worried they will come completely out when I'm sleeping or when I'm at work and they might get burnt on the heating element in the incubator.
