Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I think it is amazing how animals are already born with safety instincts. There has been a couple of times Sesame has made a certain noise, then froze. All the chicks in the run would dash to the corner or freeze exactly where they were. No one moved... until I moved. It is like the mannequin game.
Just to watch those precious chickens dust bathe or scratch with those feet. If only I could give them arms. It is so funny to watch them run.
Sometimes while my chickens are just chilling in the dust bath I’ll cluck at them really loudly and just watch them get scared and freak out

Sorry for everyone's hawk troubles. Crows are good to have around. They mob hawks and drive them away.

Does anyone else hear phantom chicken sounds? Like when you swear you heard a notification on your phone but there isn't one.

The hawk stories made me think of it. I'll be away from home and swear I hear chickens alerting. Or a rooster crow. There are no chickens around.
I have quail, and I hear phantom quail noises all the time, especially when I am in the car. Makes no sense to hear them when you know they can't possibly be nearby.

When I move their shelter, it's hilarious to watch them. I start by pulling it up an inch or two so that the birds hiding in the back will come forward (don't want to run them over). Once they discover the new grass they pile on and then its easy to move the shelter without fear of harming them. But even though I continue to move the shelter forward, they all tend to stay focused on that first strip of grass.

Good morning!!! Late late late last night/early this morning, my step brother and his lady showed up at our place with a horse! They just moved from Colorado and needed a place to board their horse and I agreed to keep her here! My donkey is very excited to have a buddy again :wee

Update: I checked the cams and I didn't have it set right the last few days :barnie

I've reset it... made sure it's working right, and have food out in front.

If I don't see anything this week, I guess we will call it.

But we can still all hang out here.
Too bad, but if it is running and you do catch her, you will have video of "catching a feral chicken"! Still watchin':caf and waitin'!
