Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Seems like the thermal cooker works like a crockpot, only you don't leave it plugged in.... and if you need a crockpot... I have about 5..... UNBOXED....

Lazy, lazy Rj.

So, just wanted to let everyone know... I pulled out a turkey to brine and deep fry this weekend. You guys suck. :barnie

It'd probably be way cheaper to buy one than to ship one. I keep thinking I should jsut pick one up, but it's an expense I can't justify when I have chickens to keep in the lap of luxury. The thermal cooker sound like something I'd love. I'm paranoid about leaving the crockpot plugged in while I'm gone. I'm terrified I'm going to burn down the entire building.

Crockpots are very safe. They use very little electricity.

Beautiful chick and pumpkin!!!

I know a lot of people are on the InstaPot kick. I am trying to decide if I would use it enough since it cost $100. And I am hoping to see a Black Friday ad for it.

I am ready for the weekend and I hope it is great weather! I have debated on adding the new
run to the front or back of the current run. Front would be better because it gets more sun during the winter. But, if I add it to the back, I can add 6 more feet AND I am going to add another coop door and divide the coop in half. These chicks need more room!!! And they are no where big enough to defend themselves from Sesame.

If is funny and painful to watch all the chest bumping, pecking and stomping each other.

It seems to be mostly cockerels doing all the squabbling. That grey snd white on has a name today, Spitfire. Goodness at the testosterone that little guy has. He is out for everyone!!! It is clear that Lemondrop is the leader. He will be lucky if I let him stay around. I hope him and Spitfire settle down soon. This COCKerel situation is all new to me! And so many! :barnie:th

I had to do the same thing. Built the coop and run, then the damn chickens kept growing! I added on to the back. Our coop faces the West so the sun comes up behind it & the coop provides the shade in the afternoon so 1/2 the expanded section gets more light in the afternoon for the winter & they have a shady place in the summer. I kept the sections separated & they had access to both through it's own chicken door, but I blocked off the first run for Odin b/c he's a jerk so it worked out really well to keep the separated.
