Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I used to house sit for a friend who had a grey.
He'd make the electronic sound that their burglar alarm made to let you know a door had been opened. Then he'd call the dog in the owners voice. "Hey bud! I'm home! "
Then he'd wait for the dog to come barreling in the room.
Then he'd laugh like a crazy person in a scary movie and mutter "fooled ya" about twenty times.
He was amazing.

Ok, that is seriously funny!! A bird that speaks Bird, Dog, English, uses humor (correctly & for their own amusement), and understands the concept of protection/deterrance....scary smart! I love it!!

I've thought about the fermented feed. But the article/post I read about it made it sound like they only gave the birds a small amount of fermented feed at a time & it sounded like they used mostly scratch grains to make it which I thought wasn't supposed to be that great for them. They did say you can use whatever feed you want, but it seemed like if I mixed crumble or pellets w/ water I'd just end up with mash.

I haven't seen anyone suggesting fermenting scratch grains, likely what you saw was Bee's mash that she feeds which is a complete chicken feed, just not ground and pelletized. It does kind of look like scratch because it is whole grain but it is a lot more nutritious as it isn't all "junk grain" like scratch tends to be.
They do tend to recommend feeding 1-2 times per day rather than free choice, and because the feed is partially digested already, the birds stay fat on less feed than feeding dry grain. No one is saying to starve the birds, but, only give them what they need and not enough extra that they waste it.
You can ferment Pellets or Crumbles, and it DOES start out as a mash, but you don't feed it until it is fermented, a mash isn't fermented, just wet.

My aunt and uncle used to have a parrot, no idea what type, I was young and I don't remember ever actually seeing the bird. One day the aunt was taking a bath and she heard a deep voice say "honey, I'm home" when there shouldn't have been anyone else in the house.. She freaked out, jumped out of the tub, and went looking for an intruder... turns out the parrot was imitating my uncle!

I'm going to check my cams this evening. Fingers crossed for SOMETHING!

Also, I've been poking around trying to figure out what color ole Mr. Squatch is.

To me he looks very similar to the splash black copper Marans color, so would that be blue/black copper splash?

It was the only color pattern that I found that had red, white, blue, and black in it.

Mille fleur (mottle w/ red) was similar but he doesn't have the sharp black next to distinct white spots and I didn't see an example of Mille fleur or mottle that had both black and blue in the feather patterns.

What do y'all think? I'm leaning toward he could be a splash. @ViolinPlayer123 , any thoughts?

I posted earlier, guess you missed it?

He is a Blue Red Sport Game bantam... most likely a cross between American Game bantam and Old English Game bantam, due to having just a bit of white on his earlobes... American Game bantams have white earlobes, OEGB have red earlobes...
