Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Hugs to all of you!
I've had the opposite where I almost lost my mom several times in the last couple years. She's become severely delusional & manic depressive, & we can't always tell what is an accident & what is a suicide attempt. But either way, she's ended up in the ICU almost dead more than once. And she fights everything we all try to do to help her.

The chickens and my dog have been a source of therapy for me - just a daily reminder to take things moment by moment & not be paralyzed by the what ifs. Animals are wonderful that way!

After a long bout with some intestinal disorder my mom lost so much weight. She joked about looking like a mummy. The malnourishment has caused her to have Alzheimer's and now she doesn't even know who anyone is. She's at home and always asks to go home.

I'm right there with you that our pets give us love and hope one needs in dealing with these illnesses.

Hugs to you.

:frowGood morning , And :hugs and :love to everyone here that needs it today.

Clicker training as an application of behavioral analysis is now almost 50 years old.
As a former dog trainer who uses 100% positive reinforcement as my training model, :love I found it to be almost universally successful with incredible results. :celebrateThe hardest part for me was teaching the poor HUMANS :he the coordination to to use it effectively! Takes a little practice, and the human's timing on the CLICK ( as an event marker) has to be spot on, but once they've mastered that, they are amazed at how fast their dogs LEARN!:ya:woot :lau

We've had a bounty on nutria for quite some time in Louisiana because they're invasive. I guess it worked because I haven't seen any around my area in years. As a child I remember they were everywhere! In fact, I've seen more beavers around, which I didn't even know we had here when I was younger.
I'd never heard of Nutria. I'm learning so much here. I've seen capybara in zoos. Once I saw a dead beaver in the road and turned around and drove past it slowly b/c I'd never seen or heard of one around here before and didn't believe it was real. Also, once while driving down the road I had a mink run across the road. Weirdest thing ever. Like a super long ferret. It moved like a slinky.

Keep them separate till they are bigger ..or see if she will switch them out
This worked for me. My youngest chicks were a month younger than my oldest chicks, at least. When I first got them I kept them in a wire hamster cage that was inside the larger area with the other chicks so they could see them, but not peck at them. I tried to integrate them a few times, but the big ones immediately started pecking the little ones. After about a month everyone was close enough in size that I could put them together. It's kind of like buying a Christmas tree. You see it and think Yeah, that's the right size, then get it home and it's soooo not the right size.

I love the rooster standing off to the side watching over his girls. LOL
I think it's funny that they're all happily sitting in their own nest b/c we all know that doesn't happen.. they all fight over the favorite nest, standing next to it yelling for them to hurry up. (reminds me of my daughters fighting over the bathroom.)

We moved from the east coast to Arizona for a few years about a decade ago. Wow!
It was like being dropped off on another (animal) planet!
Coyote, mountain lions, turrantulas, scorpions, javalinas, rattlesnakes EVERYWHERE,
-and that was just in my backyard!
After I got over being scared to death I LOVED IT!
