My Black Cochin/Dominique chicks turned 7 weeks old today.

The hen that hatched them is still a very good Mama. When I was collecting eggs I noticed all 10 of them had piled up together and started making distressed peeping noises. Mama hen climbed on top of them and they quieted down.

Bonus points if you can find all 10 chicks!

Edited to fix age of chicks: I originally said they were 5 weeks, I recounted, they are 7 weeks today.

I know, I want to be like WVDuckChick and have 34 broodies (some of those hens hatching 2-3 times) in a year. Yes, she told me and someone else that in another thread that she had that many this year.

I took about 20 different pictures of this scene as I carefully crept closer. This was the only one where I could see all the babies. I had to zoom in on my phone to see the sneaky little black faced girl.

@FlyingNunFarm it is just as sweet having a hen adopt.
My Bitty bantam is a good adoptive mom.

She had 2 week old chicks when the ten BA's arrived. She could hear them in the next coop and went nuts trying to get to them for a few days.
