Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

She's gone. At least the last human interaction she had was a loving one. Very sad.
Just read this. I'm sorry. :(

But you're such a good, kind person to make her comfortable and make sure that she didn't die alone...at least she knew some love at the end, and a little warmth. You did everything you could!

There are so many things it could have been....FIV, FeLV, congenital heart disease, a million different things. People always think poisoning, but in reality it's usually something else that has been ongoing. Poor little thing prolly wouldn't have made it no matter what.:hugs:hugs:hugs

I hope things get better for you soon!

@FlyingNunFarm If you have dry rice, corn, lentils etc you can fill a sock, tie it off, then put it in the microwave to heat it up. It will act like a heating pad (but hopefully without the danger of overheating her like with an electrical one). Only idea I could think of. Hope it helps. You are wonderful and kind for helping the poor little thing. :hugs
I do this as a ghetto neck warmer when my shoulder and neck are sore....fill an old tube sock with rice throw a few drops of lavender essential oil in there, tie it off, and throw it in the microwave...feels great and smells heavenly!

a couple of months ago i made my own heat pack with rice and lavender. I made a pattern and sewed it so it would wrap around my neck, shoulders and upper back. I need to go heat it up now.

Filing away now!

LOL really. I understand all those reaction emojis.

I was in labor at home for 24 hours before we went to the hospital (I was trying for a home birth and got to 10cm with a lip but regressed to 6-7 and my contractions started spacing out. It was 30 hours before I got an epidural and 36 hours before they gave me a c-section. THAT is EXHUASTING! But I know better than to try to one up another mother's birth story. It isn't polite.
Exactly my thoughts on all three emojis.
Any way a baby get out safely is all that counts!
You should definitely have a bright shiny trophy somewhere in your house for a rollercoaster birth like that!
:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow

I took a look and the humane society is waiving fees for the roosters. For some reason they also have a bunch of mice, rats and hamsters.

Aww Stacey. I wouldn't be to hard on him. I take it to mean he was acknowledging that most women have it harder.

Sure you can ask him! He cannot say no lol.

Next year I'm gonna ask for a pony. :gig

They brought back the emogies!!! :love

I realize earlier I ranted a bit.
Just wanted to clarify ONE thing in my rant. When I was blamed for trainees not succeeding the two being discussed were ...
A narcoleptic man that had already managed to hurt himself. I felt ladders and things like routers and lathes might not be a good idea for him to use.
Then guy number two was a guy that could not remember instructions for even 15 minutes even though I had built 20 of the same dang simple thing right there with him not even an hour before.

Pretty sure both those things were out of my control.

Thanks for letting me vent a bit. :caf
Yes. He was saying that.plus he's been taught to never comment on a woman's birth story in public except to say "Congratulations! I don't know how you do it! "

I didn't hear a rant!

Did anybody hear a rant?

You're among friends.

Lavender is my favorite.

I make DW a tea to settle her tummy from time to time... Local (next year to be replaced with my) honey, Rosemary oil a couple three drops, Orange oil 1-2 drops and the bottom end of the dropper with peppermint oil, with lavender camamele (sp) tea.

Regarding the labor discussion, this old husband knows enough to never engage in such conversations...

So... hubby made a comment that he doesn’t want to be tied down to the house with a bunch of animals and likes being able to get away, which is why we don’t have horses.
I mean, 13 chickens. I wanted to chime in and say so, how do you feel about 23 chickens??? Which is what the number will be after tomorrow
He will start working from home sometime next year. I told him maybe he will learn to bond with chickens.
He has seen the chickens. I guess because they are bantams, it doesn’t look like 17.
I was saving this new emoji for some thing special and YOU, my dear just RANG THE BELL! :gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig

I don't know what happened to my husband but to say it was chicken magic but it turns out that he LOVES these birds.
If I say I'm going outside to do something that has to do with them he screams, "WAIT FOR MEEEEE!!!" :wee

Like the Popsicle man is coming down the street or something!
