Corid 20% Soluble Powder
Package weighs 10oz (283.5g) = 35 Tbls = 200mg Amprolium per gram

Formulas for conversions:
1oz = 29.5735ml
1oz = 28.3495g
1oz = 3.5 (3-1/2) Tablespoons (by weight for Corid powder only)
1oz = 10.5 (10-1/2) teaspoons (by weight for Corid powder only)

How much powder to mix to make one gallon of solution for each strength.

0.024% solution for severe outbreaks: give for 5 days
8oz/50gal = 8oz divide by 50 = 0.16oz/gal
8oz/50gal = 236.588ml divide by 50 = 4.73ml/gal
8oz/50gal = 226.796g divided by 50 = 4.536g/gal
8oz/50gal = 28 Tbls divide by 50 = 0.56 Tbls/gal (approx. 1/2 Tablespoon)
8oz/50gal = 84 tsp divide by 50 = 1.68 tsp/gal (round up/down to 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 teaspoons per gallon)

0.012% normal solution: give for 5 days
4oz/50gal = 4oz divide by 50 = 0.08oz/gal
4oz/50gal = 118.294ml divide by 50 = 2.37ml/gal
4oz/50gal = 113.398g divide by 50 = 2.27g/gal
4oz/50gal = 14 Tbls divide by 50 = 0.28 Tbls/gal (approx. 1/4 to 1/3 Tablespoon)
4oz/50gal = 42 tsp divide by 50 = 0.84 tsp/gal (round up/down 3/4 to 1 teaspoon per gallon)

0.006% 21-day preventative solution: give for 21 days
2oz/50gal = 2oz divide by 50 = 0.04oz/gal
2oz/50gal = 59.147ml divide by 50 = 1.18ml/gal
2oz/50gal = 56.699g divide by 50 = 1.133g/gal
2oz/50gal = 7 Tbls divide by 50 = 0.14 Tbls/gal (approx. 1/8 tablespoon)
2oz/50gal = 21 tsp divide by 50 = 0.42 tsp/gal (round up/down 1/3 to 1/2 teaspoon per gallon)

Thank you.

Coming up next is the drench solution using the same bird weights from the liquid drench examples. This one had me head scratching for a long time. I think I got it and hope it's right.

That one took me awhile to figure out.

Corid 20% Soluble Powder Drench solution. Package weighs 10oz (283.5g) 35 Tbls , 200mg Amprolium per gram.

1oz = 29.5735ml
1oz = 28.3495g (28349.52mg)
1oz = 3-1/2 Tablespoons or 10-1/2 teaspoons

Solution is mixed into 1 Quart (32oz) water. Dosage is 1 fluid ounce (30ml / 30cc) per 100lb (2.2kg) of body weight orally by syringe. Dosage is once daily for 5 days at 0.024% solution for treatment.

Mixture instructions: amount of Corid 20% Soluble Powder mixed with 1 Quart (32oz) water.

0.024% solution for severe outbreaks: once daily for 5 days
6oz/quart
177.441ml/quart
170.09g/quart
21 Tbls/quart (1-1/4 cups + 1 Tbls/quart)
63 tsp/quart (1-1/4 cups + 3tsp/quart)

2oz chick = 0.0567kg x 20mg amp = 1.134mg/kg
7oz chick = 0.19845kg x 20mg amp = 3.969mg/kg
1lb bird = .4536kg x 20mg amp = 9.072mg/kg
10lb bird = 4.536kg x 20mg amp = 90.72mg/kg

Find ml of Amprolium per dose at 20% (change to decimal 20% = 200).

2oz chick = 1.134mg amp divided by 200 = 0.00567 ml solution
7oz chick = 3.969mg amp divided by 200 = 0.019845 ml solution
1lb bird = 9.072mg amp divided by 200 = 0.04536 ml solution
10lb bird = 90.72mg amp divided by 200 = .4536 ml solution

Still not sure if this is correct.

Please advise.

For making the oral drench with the powder I was thinking something more like 1/2 teaspoon with some amount of water.

The instructions for the drench said that at 0.012% it was to provide a dose of 10mg of amprolium per kg (2.2lbs) of body weight (5mg amprolium at 0.006%). Am I missing or overlooking something?

Do you give a different dose to varying bird weights? I guess I don't understand this post. Could you please explain? Did I get my math wrong and need to refigure? TIA.

So I found another website with dosing errors...

Which one?

The Corid directions are for cattle, so the most cattle are supposed to get is 10mg/kg, but the bird dose is 20mg/kg.

Try forgetting about the different % levels and the Corid data sheet and calculate an oral drench at 20mg/kg based on the amount of mg's in a 1/4 tsp, 1/3 tsp or 1/2 tsp.
