I know for me the issue isn't actually eating meat, just what happens to the meat before it gets to the store or your home... blech!!

I think Scotianchick mentioned North America, meaning to include her own country, Canada, not to indicate only the USA. As a Canadian living in the US I can vouch that the general populaces eating habits are pretty similar.
As for me I hadn't eaten eggs in 6 years and really just thought chickens were great animals that I liked to look but then I ate one of their eggs..and then another egg...and then DH ate one of their eggs...

1 year and 2 months for me!
I'm never going back.
These free range eggs my ladies give me are waaaaaaaaaaaay better than anything I ever got at the store and I know my ladies are happy.
We like to joke when we go to the grocery store "Should we get some eggs?"
They were always on the list.
Not anymore!

Yes and I was simply trying to say it is OK for her to eat mostly veggies as it is OK for me to eat meat several times a week. Shouldn't have even been an issue and I didn't mean to come off as rude if it seemed that way. Just got a bad habit of expressing how I feel about something....

Yes, be sure you understand the laws for the the label saying "Cage Free" it's not as great as the label suggest.
I thankfully have so many hens now that I always have some eggs for me, and I have a good friend who has my back as well.

I don't trust many supermarket brands, but I'm a believer in Lilydale, which is a certified free range breeder down here

I had been getting eggs from a co-worker now mine are just starting to lay granted they are the small pullet eggs but they will get there. Last week we ran out of eggs so Dh bought some at the store then fussed they didn't taste good & were all runny.

I laughed as he declared that's it no more store eggs.

I hadn't really been a eggeater since leaving the farm some years ago cause they just didn't have any flavor not to mention the conditions those chickens were raised in. We are going to be doing our first broilers in about a week I am so looking forward to homegrown chicken.
