Might make it a lil easier to take of ...

I still think it is a Groundhog but can't tell 100% from pic...

My BIL is from Paraguay, they hunt those dudes down there. Said they can get pretty big!

Could be a Muskrat if he/she's got a tail or a ground hog/wood chuck.
Easy enough to get rid of, I just hang a picture of my mother-law near it's burrow. Sends them heading for the hills. Just kidding.

Get yourself some dog hair, lots of it and stuff it in his/her entrance hole. Spread it around your yard. I had one under my garden shed that's now my coop. Haven't seen him/her lately.

Another thing that works but isn't pleasant to talk about is urine. Animals mark their territory, cats do it, dogs do it.

It's gotta be a ground hog

Fuzzy picture or not, it's gotta be. I don't like them to be around (bad for my horse pastures), but I hate to kill them... I don't think it's fair

I live in farming country though, and EVERYBODY HATES them with a passion... They are not a threat to your chickens, but if you've got a dog be careful... They will protect themselves when/if necessary - they don't bother people either.

That's a groundhog. They were there first, not you. I really can't get over people wanting to blast away at wild animals simply because they are inconvenient for their landscaping plans.

That is just plain mean.
I used to have two that lived under my house, and they did absolutely NO DAMAGE to anything!

pips&peeps :

Is it a marmot? Does it live in a rocky area?

Groundhogs and marmots are basically different versions of the same critter.

I happen to be rather fond of groundhogs, and I have known tame ones. But do NOT try to handle a live wild one. They will not attack, but when forced to defend themselves they have BIG teeth and they bite HARD.

If you give him treats, he'll probably stay out of the garden. They really like squirrel corn, watermelon rinds, etc. You can also keep him out just by having something that moves out there. They do not see objects very well unless they move. I could sit on my back porch perfectly still with my Phil about 6 feet away, and he didn't even notice me.
