Anyone near Indiana want an arabian foal?

The breeder breeds a lot of mares and the babies that won't make it to the level he shows on he just gets rid of. He has the idea of breed as many as possible and I am guaranteed to get a few $50-$100K horses to make up for the ones not worth it. I wish "breeders" didn't do this.

With the horse market the way it is now, he'll probably only get between 50.00 to a hundred dollars a piece for the foals at auction and that's from the meat buyer. (If they are over 6 months old, under 6 months and they can't be shipped to slaughter)

Sure, foals are cute, but with the prices of hay and what not these days, nobody wants to buy foals and wait 3 or 4 years until they are rideable.

Maybe you could ask the guy if he'd donate them to a rescue? If he uses one that's a registered non profit, he'd get much more money on the tax write off, than he ever would at the auction.

I've seen registered, ridable horses go for 50.00 here in Va. A lot of people are giving them away.

Most of the horse market in the toi'le right now, every breed. (unless your maybe top 5% of equine owners and have "click" sales -just my own term, sorry)
Its one of those tough subjects that people don't want to discuss most times, or it ends up in an argument because people let emotions take over, and that's not the best way to make laws and regulations, (then you can't see any further than the kleenex box) and it hurts when no one thinks of the ramafications down the road.
I love horses but I see both sides very well.

No I haven't heard from him lately. I'll try and get an update from him after the holiday weekend.
