Works for me! I just know WE didn't create it.

I personally refuse to worship anything but life itself.

I refuse to WORSHIP anything at all. Yeah, I do talk to the guy, and I certainly respect him and admire his creativity. But that is a far cry from "worshiping". I don't think "worshiping" ANYTHING is quite healthy. WORSHIP kinda implies that you give up responsibility for thinking critically and objectively about the object you are worshiping. Or so it seems to me.

Ya Ya Ya I agree... Worship is a bad word... Maybe appreciate, respect, love a word like that would be better....

I am easily swayed.... Just so you don't ask me to drink the Koolaid....

My dad was creamated last November. No imbalming or anything. We the immediate family stood in a cirlce holding hands shared some nice memories then threw his ashes to the wind on a hill by his woods. It was nice. I am sure the field mice enjoyed the little chunks of bones during winter. Pretty green method. Personally I like the idea of a pine box that rots quick in a shallow hole. Let that organic matter get back to work quick..

Many things in the christian bible grate with me, especially in the Old Testament. I was never an avid reader of it, preferring books that had a single, named author and had not been altered or edited. However, it does, as I recall, contain some pearls of wisdom even for the non-religious reader. Arguing one way or another with me about religion using the christian bible as the source of proof would be futile. It's easy to counter such tactics; just take the passage quoted and read from a few verses before to a few verses after it. You will usually find that the person you are talking with has created some universal truth by quoting only those words that support it. It's rather like claiming that the world is flat by referring only to your front drive for evidence. However, any work that sets out to influence one's life is likely to contain something of use and I think it would be a mistake to dismiss it as totally irrelevant.

Something that I struggle with when I contemplate the possibility that a god exists is the form that 'he' might take. I notice some people write as if he is a physical being in human form. Now that really doesn't sit well with me. In fact, it's darned impossible. If there is a creator in the form of a separate intelligent entity, what does it look like? Where is it? I have never, ever had an answer anywhere near acceptable to questions like that but when I attempt to imagine a form, much of what I was taught about christianity is again thrown into question. For example, if I imagine a god as some invisible powerful energy that can influence everything in the universe and create that mysterious spark of life then what's all this about sending his son to visit earth? And where does the devil come from and angels? When I get to that point in my ponderings I make a nice strong cup of English tea and remind myself that I have a life to live, whatever the truth is.

I have a few friends saying that they don't like the idea of finding out if there was a God when they die, by then, it was too late! Are they afraid of death? Or is it fear mongering about what happens to us? When we die, we are dead, ashes to ashes and there is no more living existence in our bodies except for bacteria that are breaking down in our system to compose back into the earth. Has anyone came back to live after death? Some documentations including today, people have brought back from death and the white light is the light of God. How do we KNOW it is the light of God? From what scientists say, our brain was shutting down, the receptors are dying and it was the way the body reacts of preparing death which it is not unusual for some folks to see that happening "near death". I do not have all the details to it but it does make sense. Ever got your head knocked in or knocked cold? Same way, the brain shuts down voluntarily to absorb the shock and you simply just dont feel anything. I cant see how the brain would picture ourselves "hovering" our useless body on the table, seeing people feverishly working hard to keep you alive and you are just sitting there on the sidelines watching it all.

I have faced near death before, there was a light, very warm and comforting but nothing at the end of it. I came back to earth when they got me stable in IC. No stairs, no hands, nothing except voices which it said to follow the light. I know its my brain talking. I do not remember a whole lot of it but that was just the gist of it. No, I didn't see anybody there. I can not explain the whole thing about it or why it exists but it will prepare you for death in a good way.

I don't think I would fear death, nor do I have to sit here and worry about what I will face in my afterlife, if there is any. When I am gone, I'm gone, no longer living. And I hope I die quickly, not slowly like cancer.

Thai, I noticed that in myself in the second paragraph when I write about God.....either he is there or not, thats the question that would never die. Such for a dare, I would yell at God and say where are you? Why dont you show yourself after all those years? Why must you hide? Are you hideous looking? Can not be any worse than a burned or misfigured person on earth!!! As for the images of devils and angels, I am guessing its the human we are wanting something to look at, something we can justify its existance. How in the heck we know????? We don't know for sure or positively say yes there are things like that. Angels to people like myself are figures of mythology Pegasus for one, and it is someone who is heavenly, pleasing to the eye and mind to see gentleness and in air as in doves and beautiful birds in our backyards.

This one is a stickler, why dont animals pray? Why dont every living species get religious? Again, man created this. Sure we all have dogs and if we look deep into the dog's eyes, you would think it has a soul. Soul or not, it is how we humanize it, give it feelings (I am sure they feel the same way but not in advance way as our brains are). You treat the dogs kindness, and you would be rewarded with companionship and licks LOL! They have hunger, pains, thirst, love (sex for procreation), care for young and try to survive according to the enivornment they live in. It is not God's will or his hand but for evolution how each and every species cope on this Earth.

I hope I made it understandable or I am just rambling on.
