Anyone noticing an unusually poor November egg production?

Mine have slowed down since the days are shorter. My EE still not laying after the molt. I am going to resort to cat food. I hope she does not meow.

I have 6 E.E. girls that I got from Murdochs in March of this year. They started laying at 5 months and laid an egg a day each until recently. I read about needing light, so I added a light on a timer in October. I get 3-5 eggs from the six 8-month old girls, which I am fine with.

Any advice on what to do for the one that quit completely?

She laid an egg yolk only after 2-3 days of moping, now she just isn't happy and doesn't eat much. Her crop is always way smaller than her sisters'.

Count me in on a rotten November. SW Montana had a super mild autumn, until last week, but inspite of that my Chix are on hiatus. Never normally get skunked until a couple weeks in January. Too darn cold to be out sending anyone to freezer camp. Guess they will just eat and poop.

I have lights on for 16 hours A DAY now-they are coming out of molt and starting to pick upthank goodess-this 6 egg a day garabe from 30 hens was killing me!

Glad it isn't just me! My slowdown started in October. Getting eggs from less than half of my girls right now.

Yes, I've had chickens for 9 years and this is the worst Oct and Nov I've had. Part of the problem is I have a lot of older chickens, but even my pullets are super slow to start laying this year. I have way too many chickens and I'm only getting about 6 eggs a day. This is getting expensive and my egg customers aren't happy either.

I haven't had an egg since August from my 2 2 year old hens. I have a friend who reports the same. What's up?

My gals have also slowed. I had been getting anywhere from 7-11 a day out of my 14 layers, they have cut back to around 4-5, although I did get 7 yesterday, but the weather yesterday was a bit nicer than what it was earlier in the week.
