@NorthFLChick disaster that's all I can say. The mixture was great and went in the oven and bang we had a power cut, which normally isn't a prob but I have a fan assisted gas oven and the fan didn't work as that works on elec. Consequently it cooked really really well at the edges and sogged in the middle, but it did taste really nice. I whipped up cream and put on the dry bits, but still a disaster.

Going to have another go but power been off since yesterday 10.00 am so will have to wait until the powers that be decide to switch us back on. Bloody nightmare and we ran out of gas they won't deliver until Monday so ...

Also had a hospital visit today -ALL DAY - SOME nurses are particularly sadistic, they come with their huge needles and shove them in without so much as a smile - and I had to have another MRI which I hate anyway all good.

@qhlover I loved that book and if you have ever had a puppy that boisterous, you can associate so well. We had a stray boxer who used to jump thru our gates in our old house, just because he could and loved us all so much, chased the cats, laughed, ate then went on his way. Never did find out what happened to him but he was really a great friend when he came for visits.

Have you ever read the books by James Herriot about a vet in the Yorkshire Dales in the UK, set just before and during the second world war, absolutely hysterical. I still read them now and they still make me laugh.

@NorthFLChick can't wait to get to yUK and see the books - not really had time to read anything except diabetic freezing food cook books. lol

I don't seem to get out of my reading genre of murder and suspense - was put in my place here lol- but still appreciate paintings. My mother painted and has a picture hung at LLoyds of London, they commissioned her to do it - ...wil post some pics of her painting when I get to UK

@whoop whoop I'd love to see a picture of your Mom's painting. She must have been really good to get a piece of artwork there. Not much longer now and you'll be taking off on your trip!

I've finished 2 books lately and started on a 3rd. This heat is keeping us indoors during the middle of the day so it's a good time to read. I finished "Death In Holy Orders" by P.D. James...not too bad once I got into it. It was about some murders at a theological college. Also finished Maeve Binchy's "Scarlet Feather". I've read that before but love the story and the way she writes. The newest book I'm reading is "Silent Witness" by Richard North Patterson. It's about a young guy that was accused of killing his school sweetheart, he goes on to become an attorney representing an old school friend on similar charges. I'm enjoying that one so far.

@NorthFLChick Hi, read all those - PD James I find a bit 'heavy going' don't know why but his books are good stories but somehow I can't attach myself to him (if you know what I mean).. Love MB read all hers.

I am really looking forward to the books shops and hope to pack a whole suitcase for coming home. So there is a positive... really going to miss everyone at home though.

I know that humidity its awful, if you put makeup on and go outside its in your lap in two minutes - we don't really have it too bad here but in Feb it can get quite sticky and nasty but only for a couple of weeks - Durban is like it all the time I have no idea how the people live there.

Anyway will keep in touch...xx hope your chooks are still OK and bak is better...

Hi everyone!

I'm a big reader and very glad I found this thread! I finished the MATCHED trilogy by Ally Condie earlier this month, it was a good dystopian series, though not my favorite. I'm reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee right now, and I'm throughly enjoying it. I'm hoping to start reading either the "Eye of Minds" series by James Dashner or the "Warriors" series by Erin Hunter as soon as I finish "To Kill A Mockingbird".
