Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Well tonight is NOT low fat or low calorie here I'm afraid!

I have chicken in the crockpot with carrots, celery, corn, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and garlic. Flavored with corriander, parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, lime zest and adobe sauce. 1 hour before its done I'll throw in the shrimp and lime juice. Serve it as a stew... but I got avacado's on clearance 3/$0.99 so I made a guacamole with the chipotle peppers, onions and grape tomatoes.... so I'm going to use that as a topping for the southwester stew. Without the guacamole I'm sure its WAY healthier... but I couldn't help myself.

So tomorrow I will make a coconut & lime tilapia with a simple salad to make up for my not eating well this evening. Luckily I have my Yoga class at 8pm, so I shall feel healthier excerising before bed.

I really need to start sharing my dinner recipes again. I had some great ones I think you guys would enjoy... like my sesame asian slaw. So good, and so much healthier then basic southern slaw.

Kass, have you heard from Pillsbury yet? I haven't heard a thing, and most likely won't until September... but I am sooooooooooooooooooo excited, I'm impatient!!!!

Ok wonderful BYC fitness friends.... the pillsbury bake off prejudging for the final recipes is going on now!

Read more about what to do on this thread I started explaining it:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=6446240#p6446240

Get your friends together, try these recipes and vote!

Why?!

You may have noticed Kass and I talking a lot about it, but a good amount of BYC members have entered recipes and have a good chance on going. I know I really would love an all expense paid trip to Florida and the bonus meeting several other BYC members while I'm there!!! How exciting!!! (Plus, there is always the $1mil to the winner of the whole thing, would so love that.)

So come vote, even if you don't try the recipe... if there is a BYC member on there that week, we'll post in the above thread... and I'll bug Rob to put it on the BYC facebook page, and we'll just tweet each other to death if we need to to get votes!!!!

Come on and rock this competition!!!!!!

weighed myself today, down to 153. Ive been trying to do a 30 minute Gilad Televised workout, and then like 10 minutes of dancing or something cardio at night, a lot of nights I'm just to beat, but I did manage that 3 times in a week, so I'm happy with that. My weight-attack plan is more of an eat-in-moderation and get some excercise in a few days a week plan. I think my results will be more a lifestyle change that way and more attainable and maintainable. I have no idea how many calories are in things ( I make a lot of soups, stews, chilli and breads and most of our meals are not iout of a box so I'm not sure what the calories are...) I think I wouldn't be able to keep any count even close to accurate, so I'm just gonna try to eat a little out of each foodgroup each day, not too much of any and see how this works

Last night I got a HUGE work out. Kass will understand this....

I managed to do my head stand again (so proud) but also held my crow so well that I tried to make the transition from crow to crane. Same posse except instead of holding the knees on the back of your triceps you put your legs out straight over your triceps and kind of hold yourself up straddling your arms. Then you 'manuver' back into crow and set yourself down. I did it, but not well. I need more arm and shoulder strength to hold that very long. I did go into 'dolphin' and did about 10 of the dolphin push ups. Those are great for your shoulder strength.

What usually is an hour class, turned into 1 1/2 hours. We all had fun, and being the last class we're never rushed to get out of there.

My mission though is to get lotus, and I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooo close! I can stack my legs and open my hips... but its my dang left leg does want to tuck under my right leg and onto my hit. I need like 2 more inches of stretch and I'll have it!!!! I practice almost everyday on the floor watching tv and such. Good stuff!

Great I like Gilad's workouts too. I did those before I found yoga. The key is to find something you can and will stick to.

I tried crow and side crow again w/o success, but I am getting better. Tried the head stand for the first time and it hurt my neck and head, won't do that again for a while, b/c it wasn't the "good hurt". But am getting better at happy cow, and love pigeon.

You are doing great congrats. The first yoga I did for about a year didn't do any of those harder posses so I have just been practicing those for the past couple of months.

Well what you need for Crow and the head stand is to have strong shoulder. So trying doing the dolphin to strengthen, then do the dolphin push-ups. You can also chateronga (sp) push up from plank. Those are usually what I do as I NEED more upper body strength. I've put so much into my hips and balance I've neglected the upper body.

Since you like pigeon, try the archer posse. Its just adding the bending of your knee and stretching your leg by grabbing it over head from pigeon. Just start by reach one hand behind you to grab your foot, then gradually try to pull your leg more until you can reach over your head and hold your toes. My lower back loves it!
