Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Congratulations!
And, I'm the same weigh. I weighed 105 +-5 for years but had a 29inch waist. Do you have trouble finding jeans that fit right? I do. Ones that fit fine around the butt and thighs are too tight in the waist. I'm seriously considering trying guy's jeans next time.

Mmmmmm, is he a baker? Or just prone to baking yummy stuff! Can you "suggest" he use less sugar or whole wheat flour instead? Maybe substitute pureed veggies or fruits for the oil? some of those things I do to cut down on calories.....I don't believe apply the "all or nothing" when it comes to my diet plan.

I did cut out a lot of my sweet tooth/snacking and virtually eliminated my frapaccinos or ice cream due to Shakeology, though!

Good plan Wink - Just simply wouldn;t work with DH - its not possible for him to understand the concept of diet!!!! He loves to bake - no he doesn;t do it for a living but he creates the most wonderful things. He is now planning a princess cake for our Grand daughters 1st birthday which isn;t until August but of course each idea has to be examined baked and decorated and then yeap tasted for approval by the wife - ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! He just made a massive cake Sunday and its gone already. Nothing lasts here and he had his own Birthday cake Friday!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh - He has his easter cake posted here on page - 140
See I have no chance!!!!!!

OK rather trying to stiffle his abilities to bake... I think it is time for him to learn to put his creative juices to work on lowering the calories while still making it taste and look wonderful....Give him the challege... got nothing to loose but weight.

Kassandra,
I am going to have to ask you to help me get this fit day thing in order for me.
I measured everything, but I did it backwards. I filled my plate the way I would normally. Then I measured the food. I wanted to see how badly I was off on my guesstimations. I was rather accurate as it turned out.

At the end of the day, I was at 1063 calories. Eating normally (normally for wanting to be careful about what I eat) and my pie chart was pretty much equal carbs, fat, protein.
It says I burned 2,500 calories and I did not eat enough. I don't think so. aren't women around 1,500?
That seems like way too many calories to consume to be even. I double checked to make sure I listed myself as female, and I did. I had the height down correctly as well.
What should I be aiming for?

I have not had the physical stamina that I had before I got sick, so I figure I am just not as active. It FEELS like it, but one mile wipes me out when three used to be easy. I have to assume that is the problem
or is a balanced pie chart not good?
higher protein? less everything else?

I have to get healthy.

I can NEVER find them to fit, I have had more success w/ the low rise since that has become popular. They don't make any pants for large waisted/small butted women.

I don't use their estimates for calories burned, I never could figure it out it kept saying I burned 3500 cal a day which is BS all I use is the cal/nutrition counter. What I decided to do was pick a calorie amount that I thought was less then what I burn, keep my calories at that level for a week or two (unless proven quicker) while weighing daily at the same time first thing in the am, after peeing, before eating or drinking anything. (I have a scale that measures lbs and ozs, ie 138.6 lbs) if I was trending ozs lost each day or two I figured that was the correct calories to lose, if I was trending upwards needed to cut back. (It really doesn't take two weeks to figure it out)

I wouldn't have 1/3 carbs while trying to lose weight, for maintence that might be okay, if your choice is between a healthy sweet carb (like apple) and a healthy startch carb (beans) I would veer towards the healthy sweet carb for energy, I limit my starchies to about 3 serving (1/2 cup) a week. Try getting a smaller bean (mung, adzuki, black etc) and sprouting them, you get the bean nutrition w/ much fewer carbs and easier for the body to digest.

I exercise moderately, about an hour twice a week not including housework and the ever-present chicken chores. We tend to forget the saying our grandparents used frequently, "I worked all day and really worked up an appetite". I do more weight resistance (for pain control) than I do aerobic type exercise. My breakfast is either eggs and bacon or an omelet with veggies and cheese. I do use low carb shakes when I'm pressed for time. I'm losing weight and inches steadily and I am in a pair of pants 3 sizes smaller than when I began.

I do not eat bread nor whole grains for that matter and I use coconut oil and real butter. I get my carbohydrates from vegetables and I concentrate on greens.

Read Gary Taubes' "Why We Get Fat" for why I eat the way I do.

Thanks. I think I am on the right track. I just need to get more active. My son wants to get me back up to three miles a day. Today I wore out at 3/4 mile, but kept walking because I needed to get back home.
I missed my banana! my calf muscels hurt without it. I think of them, and depend on them, for my potassium. I had an apple instead, but the carbs shot up anyway. The cabbage is considered a carb as well, even though I doubt most of it will digest. And I always thought of beans as protein. I guess I wasn't as knowledgeable about it all as I thought.
I do know to stay away from those cookies, though.

Carbohydrate content of an ear of yellow corn:

Corn, sweet, yellow, raw ear, large (7-3/4" to 9" long) yields 27.20g
Corn, sweet, yellow, raw ear, medium (6-3/4" to 7-1/2" long) yields 17.12g
Corn, sweet, yellow, raw ear, small (5-1/2" to 6-1/2" long) 13.88g

Carbohydrates, depending on how many total grams you can eat a day without your body creating fat, are primarily the same with regards to weight gain/loss. The total grams you consume is of more importance. Many people must stay under 20 total grams of carbohydrate a day to maintain weight, much less to lose, so even a small ear of corn packs a pretty big wallop.
