Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Well, as a result of the food poisoning, I've lost weight. Woohoo? (Not what I would suggest as a way to do it.) Anyways - now that I'm feeling better, I've started working out again. I got some Kathy Smith videos a while back, and started doing the abs workouts. Today, I did 20 minutes of ab workout. And I need to remember to work on my posture. Even if I have some padding on the waist, I can still stand straight up straight and keep the belly pulled in. The more I do it, the more it'll become a habit, right? So, no slouching!

Wow,it's almost like a cleanse! ;-) I have my tried Kathy smith videos, but I was trying Rev Abs by the makers of P90x. My abs will be the last thing on me that will be transformed (ive got an apple figure), but it's all a process, right?

Hey! No slouching!

I think I will try to be more aware of the belly thnig going on!!!! - I had 4 kids in 3 and a half years! Twins in the middle where my stomach stretched so much that my belly was out to me knees and I still only got to 26 weeks! I also had major surgery on my stomach so now that I am doing the over 40 thing - the baby belly bag is a real issue when one wants to get a nice frock etc! Recently I have thought I felt some muscle tone in the belly and some days I wake up and it OMG near flat - but soon as its lunchtime the whole thing swells up like a barrarge balloon and I look as if I am about to give birth again!

Recently I have been doing the pull it in over the washing up and pull the bum as well!!! - I know don;t laugh but I am not able for all the big excersizes and voga and all that!!! So I am interested in your abs girl bottom line! I mean I can;t be dragging this old baby bag round with me forever!!!!

Your belly swelling after eating is not a weight problem it is a medical problem and not normal. That indicates you are eating food/s that at the very least you are having trouble digesting, and could actually be sensitive or allergic to. It puts your whole body in a state of inflamation making you sick, and feel like crap. You need to find out what foods you are reacting to and eliminate them. I lived w/ abd issues for years and wouldn't go back for all the "forbidden" to me foods in the world, the difference in how you feel is remarkable, not having to have 3 sets of clothes, (normal, a little swollen, 6 months preggo)

yes. I second Kassandra. Sometimes I will bloat very quickly and have to go change clothes. Then I have to figure out where I picked up the allergen.
I am okay with wheat, but not high gluten wheat or gluten. so I can not do rye or barley. I can sneak a cookie, but not pasta or bread. the chewier the bread, the worse it is.
sometimes there is a hidden flour.
Keep a diet diary and see if you can figure out when you feel bloated and icky.
It is difficult. but you will feel so much better.
I think of you, oesdog, even when you are not posting. With all you have going on in your life you are the hinge on which so many depend on.
You must make time to care for yourself. If something happens to you, then they will be lost.
You owe it to your family to take a step back and say,"I need to take the best care of myself, so that I can be there for the lot of you."
besides, we'd miss you if you got sick.

I am not going to die - !!!!!!!
Yes I do bloat up and I kind of know where it comes from too!
I love onions - simply LOVE onions yummy tobbaco onions, crispy fried ooooooh lovely scallions and leeks !!!! BUT THEY HATE ME SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!

I have cut them out for most of my diet!!!!!! But I do surcome the odd time. So I guess I have to either not have them or live with the consequences!!!! The other issue I know it is is water retention I drink far too much coffee!!!!!! I mean you could drown in it the kettle is never off!!!!!

I feel bloated and yucky and with little energy. - Though I don;t really have much say in my own diet round here as you guys all know!! If I were here on my own I would eat more fish and fruit juice instead of the coffee and fruit and salad - yes I know I am weird because I crave those things but I live on a high carb diet - which is never good! So yes I do crave for a salad and some prawns!!!!! I think cheese makes me bloat too though again something I love. - Why is it all the nice stuff is horrible to me!!!!!

Oesdog - OESDOG IS NOT GOING TO DIE OK!!!!!!!!!

That's not the way to go through life honey. Even if you're not going to die. See if you can find out what's doing it. And if you can, then you have a *medical* reason to get your DH to stop pushing the carbs on you.

Soooooooooooooooo true! I lack an enzyme that I need to break down red meats. If a steak was WELL done or a burger I could break it down, but still have swelling in my stomach and discomfort. Under cooked meat would leave me feeling 100lbs heavier for days! I stopped eating red meat and pork when I was 15 I couldn't take it anymore. So its just not part of my diet.

Kass, I'm so happy to see someone else doing yoga with me

I think its more then just exercise and I love it! Puts me into this zone while I'm doing it and it just helps melt away stress from my shoulders and back where I store it in my muscles. Its not just physical, but mental exercise as well.

Annaraven, I'm so sorry to hear you've been down and out. I have the stomach thing not too long ago and dropped 5 lbs in 4 days. Not good.
