Anyone set yesterday or today?

Isn't it funny how time just flies by unless there is something really exciting gonna happen and then the time will not move?

EGGCITING NEWS: My broody's eggs are pipping I have at least 2 out of 5 and I just noticed there is bunches of chirping in the nest. I am wanting to spend the day in the coop. However life demands that I just wait.

My temps in my bator are between 100.4 and 100.9 and my humidity is between 33 and 49 percent depending on when I add water. Does this sound right?

Should be fine. I prefer to keep the humidity a little tighter between 40-50% but many incubate much lower.

well I added more water a couple of days ago and it seems to be between 40-49% so I guess that is a bit better. I just need to check my water a bit more.

Thanks

For those of you that set earlier in September are you getting excited? We should be hatching next week. Have you candled your eggs, if so what did you have? I am not having much success many of the eggs were old when shipped so I don't have much hope for them. also, our outdoor temps actually went to 88 and it made my indoor temps a bit higher then usual and my bator spiked to 104. I am not sure how long it was there but, I hope they are ok.

I am off to candle. Wish me luck.

Six more days to go! I did not try to candle as my eggs are dark (marans). I just keep poking my head in the nest to do a "sniff check" whenever my broody gets off the nest. They all look (and smell) good so far. The mama to be looks good too.

I am super excited...we have 3 hatches - Monday, Thursday & Saturday. We candled some eggs (I also have some marans and couldn't candle those) we removed 5 including one stinky one

Despite the temps being rather uneven I have 15 of 22 seramas developing and 1 of 2 japs. Haven't gotten to the dark eggs.

Getting the other bator set up on the table for some bantam EE, more dark layer eggs, lakenvelders, and hamburgs to set next week.

Of 15 eggs, 5 were clear, 10 looking good. They are due to hatch Tuesday. I forgot to take the turner out yesterday, I'm taking it out before I go to bed.

My humidity's a little low because the weather's cooled, and it's not so steamy. I'll need to add a little water to get it up around 50%.

My turner motor gets pretty hot, the temp in the bator tends to drop a little when I take out the turner. I don't want to leave it in, I worry a chick might be injured by the turner.
