Excellent advice. New2chooks...thankyou - I did wonder if was the extra water pulling gown the temp.
What was your humidity with both trays full in the hovabator?

I didn't fill both trays. I just added enough water to bring it to 65%. (You can always add more, but can't take it away) I had the center tray full and the outer tray about 1/2 full. When it stabilized, I was at 67%.

Hmmm, what was yours day 1-18 with just the centre tray?
Maybe higher humidity in Northern CA?
I added water 3 hours ago and currently reads 55%.
Might need to add a cloth.

Will wait a few hours to see if its settled at 55%.

ETA: Did you calibrate your hygrometer before incubating? They are all "off" to some degree. I had 1 off 3 and the other off 8.

one of mine is off 14%, the other 10% and yet another one is off 1%
