Well. I'm not sure. There are 24 eggs in the incubator. 4 I'm pretty sure are duds - looked half full etc on day 18 but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.
The other 20 all looked full or nearly full on day 18, but I only saw movement in 6.
I'm certainly not expecting 20! Maybe 10.
A real mix of pure breeds and 4 mixed from my own flock.
I found myself a woman on
ebay that had 8 different breeds all kept separately and told her to send about 15 eggs at random, so they really are a mixed bunch. Then I picked up some more orpingtons and cochins locally and then threw in 4 of our own blue eggs just for fun.
When I look in there it only looks like there's a dozen in there, not two,
Particularly now big feet orpington has kicked them into the corners
Little Wyandotte looks terrified of the big orpington chick...keeps running and hiding in the corner.
So yeah, there's 20 possibles, 4 unlikelys and I'd be happy to get 10 out of it in the end, being my first time.
I got carried away
I have two hen houses. We had a predator attack about a month ago so my flock of 15 got depleted to 8. All in all I have space for maybe 10 more hens. Even if 20 hatched statistically could be 10 roosters...so anyway...
