Anyone up to set their eggs on Valentine's day with me?

Well and an automatic egg turner can hardly hurt. that's for sure! I wish I could fit one in my incubator, but it is too narrow.

Anyway, i'm getting my bator cleaned and sanitized today, and more or less rebuilding it tomorrow, so all that's left is getting some eggs....guess I better get on the phone.
I'm thinking white eggs this time, maybe salmon faverolles......love those little beards!

Totally - i love those too so would love to see some hatch for you! That would be great!
My eggs are being collected as we speak! Some i am picking up -some are being mailed - YIKES!

Thankfully, I can pick up most of what I want, but eventually I want to introduce some blue into my flock, so shipped eggs are definitely in my future. Hopefully yours arrive safe and everything works out, then you can tell me what you did right!

I just couldnt find any local at all - so i hooked up with some one that is newer to shipping - so getting the eggs for feed back on their fertility and shipping methods - etc.

I'm still in. I got my incubator modified and it is running/stabilizing as we speak. I'm going to pick up a dozen each salmon faverolle and GLW eggs this weekend. I'll fill in any empty space with local "eating" eggs that just happen to be fertile.....mystery chickens!

Many talk about Trader Joes and some stores selling fertile organic eggs - there is a whole thread on it - seems alot turn out to be hybrids or Leghorn X's

Once you settle into a routine, it gets better......don't get me wrong, if you're like me, you will still obsess over it....just less and less....until lockdown, then the fingernail biting really starts

I tried the TJ's route, they don't carry the fertile eggs her in MN, you should have seen the managers face when i told him what i was looking for. The mystery eggs i'm getting are from a friend of my stepmothers. I am just waiting to hear back what kind of roosters are running withe her mixed flock, so I can narrow down the possible variations of "Franken-chickens" I may get....

I will be a nervous wreck as this is really my first attempt! That is why i thought it would be good to have others - we can support each others mental states! LOL
