Anyone want to hatch with me? - Went in 01/16/14.

I have a baby and one zipping. I think the third is a day or so behind. Broody probably stole it after staring the others,

↑ She was pipped at 7pm last night and didn't do anything until 9am this morning. She zipped and popped out in 20min!

↑ The floor of the bator is damp, so I added something warm and dry for her to sleep on.

The humidity on that doesn't work. It always says 16%. I don't know what the actual % is, but I did dry throughout and added a lot of water after the first pip. Its very damp in there, so I'm not worried.

Edit to add: While I made this post baby two zipped and hatched!

Baby 2 started the pip last night about 930pm.. and fully zipped and hatchedby 7am this morning! I went in at 3am to check them (we have a woodstove so it was the middle of the night fill) and there was no change in the pip...I was a lil worried, but at 7am--there was that cute, wet lil yellow fuzzy butt bouncing around with his/her eggmate!

I believe that this is my Jap/Silkie X Silkie combo! All my silkies are blue/black with the blue having a tiny bit of buff leakage. My jap/silkie is the results of a BTW Jap Roo and a White Silkie Hen.....Hoping I either get a BTW looking or a white silkie looking...but no feathers on the feet and yellow legs/white skin! So I think it is taking after the japs!

I have 1 more bantam egg to go and that one should start late tonight/tomorrow...and I have 3 LF eggs that should come out today! 1 of which is pipping already!

Luke--Sorry about the power outage! Anything going with the 2 still in the incubator?

Mamahen--Any pictures yet??

These little fluffies are adorable!!

Good luck! So scary. That's a lot of stuff under a bantam. She must be in heaven!
Thanks!
hahah, yeah I don't know where she was keeping them all. I kept giving them to her and she managed to keep tucking more and more under her.lol.

Any pips out of the two remaining in the bator, Luke? Hope they all do well! I just saw 2 new ones, 5 so far only one to go. One is yellow the rest are black and yellow, will get pictures soon as I can. Good luck everyone!
Nope not yet!
Congratulations!!!!

Good news bad news. My little girl made me candle an egg when we turned them just now and we could see a foot moving. Bad news is the air cell seems to be too small. How concerned should I be?

What day are you on? I candled on day 16 and all my air cells seemed to be smaller that what I had seen on here that they should be, but so far 3/7 are out without difficulty! This is my first hatch so this has been my only experience

I'm hatching along with you guys!  I've been trying to find an active thread for hatching... I have everything for a perfect hatch!  I hope!
I have had several bad ones so I've really been trying to fine tune things!

I have 17 silkie and sizzle eggs in the incubator.  On day 3!  :) I'm doing things by the book, no candling until day 7, 14 and then lock down on 18!
I can't wait to post pictures.
Good luck to everyone who are hatching!!!:celebrate

Yay!
BAD NEWS with my hatch!!! We had a state of emergency!! Power went out this morning ( right on hatch day ) and I really didn't know what to do. I had to go off to school as well. So I wrapped the bator in a doona...but then my sister reminded me...I HAVE A BROODY!!! So we snuggled up the 3 hatched but still wet chicks in jumpers and collected the eggs from the bator and quickly made a mad dash through the cold rain to the chicken coop. There I managed to get 3 chicks and 8 eggs under my bantam broody. The 2 left over eggs that didn't fit went back up into the incubator covered in the doona and I hoped the power would come back on for them.

When I got home all the power was back on, no pips from the two eggs though.
All seems to be fine down with the broody. I didn't want to see under her as it's a delicate time for the eggs and chicks.

can be scary! Good luck!
