A Sizzle is not just a Silkie crossed with a frizzled bird. They are a project, and the goal is to have a chicken with all the Silkie features, except they have frizzled feathers.

Speaking of Sizzles and Silkies, I woke up to pips and peeping this morning! Exciting stuff! I CAN NOT wait to see them!

Yay!! Exciting!!

I'm still waiting to hear anything from mine. They went into lockdown on Friday, and I've seen a bit of wiggling around since then, but no pips or peeping yet.. I'm getting anxious!

Worst picture ever, I really need to clean the glass on my Bator, but I have 2 little early birds out already! I think they're Silkies, since they both appear to have vaulted skulls, but they could be from my Sizzle project.
I don't see anything else going on with the other eggs, but they're not even due until tomorrow. I love getting early hatchers, it always makes me feel better!

Day 21 starts at approximately noon, and I have TWO that pipped! One pipped last night while I was at my brother's house. I was gone for about 3 hours. Then the second one pipped around 7am today! I saw it rocking around all night long, and no pip, but as soon as I step away to say good by to the hubby who was going to work.. Of course it pips!! It's still working hard, I think it's trying to zip or at least turn itself around or something

I get to go to a dentist appointment, today of all days! Why did I agree to this?!

PS: It's easier said than done- How on earth do you contain yourself from getting in there and not helping them hatch?! My first pip hasn't done anything more than just that. It's doing some rocking around, but not much.

My next lot are due to start hatching tomorrow and then I will have a few hatching every day until March 25th. The swap here is on the 29th of March and I will be taking almost all of them there to sell. Cochin, d'Uccle and Sebright bantams, possibly a very few blue salmon Faverolles in bantam and LF.
It seems soooooo long from the time you put those eggs in until they come back out!!!!

Aacre, at least you've got rocking. Those 2 chicks hatched and now the rest of the eggs aren't doing anything...still. Technically day 21 doesn't start for another few hours. I'm just happy something hatched this time!
