anyone with any other farm animal babies?

wow the babies are so bloody cute! I checked out the forum you sent ( goattalk.com) and just registered...there is a breeder in western NY which cant be too far away. She has togg xalpine kids for sale...are these suitable for a 6 yr old boy to make his new best mates? ( oh thats new zealand talk for friends/buddies)

It says they are milking goats...so do they have to be milked like dairy cows every day?

I have never raised toggs or alpines but from what I understand, they do require milking, at least that is my understanding. But you should ask that breeder. I know with my nigerians, you can milk if you want but you don't have to. The only time I have milked is just after the kids are a few days old, I milk some colostrum from mom to save in case I ever have an emergency and need it. And I have milked when I have sold a kid and mom's udder filled too much, to help her dry off. But toggs and alpines are full size dairy goats and make lots of milk. So I am not sure what the process would be for them. They are beautiful but pretty good size. So take that into consideration as well. You will learn a lot on Goat Talk. They are great folks. what is your screen name and I will watch out for you.

thanks for the info marie...my screen name will be "aran" but im waiting for the email telling me I can start posting.

the lil dwarf guys sound like a good go for my son. I am buying an 800 sqaure foot chain mail 6foot high enclosure for the chickens this weekend and Im sure I can erect some sort of lil goat house in there.

aran, did you get approved? I am marie_martin on there (I think?) Look forward to seeing you there. And good luck with the goat hunt.

That pig is adorable. I wonder how well they get along with goats! My hubby would kill me if I brought home another critter. ha ha. I do love my goats and thanks for the compliments. I just love them healthy. I wish everyone could experience the personality
each one has, it is amazing. I could sit and watch them for hours sometimes.
