I am such a dork! LOL. Can we say overly excited newbie! Okay, candled really good today and I'm pretty sure I wasn't seeing an internal pip, just an area of movement where the membrane was detatched where the movement shows up more pronounced. When you all started comparing it to shadow puppets (too cute, toadbriar), I thought I better go check a little better. Oh well, egg is rocking a lot and this little one seems really busy! Today would be our official lock down anyway. So, the two butters all seem good, and the one Black is all filled in now, so maybe on that one.

Congrats on your new babies 1lpoock! I asume you are just finding the time to post pics of your goregous new brood because, well, you know the rules......

Congrats to you to Missionarywife, same goes for you with the pics!~!!

duckyfromoz~ I want to see your cinnamon babies to, since they are the most beautiful runners I have ever seen IMO.

Newchickmom09~ Did you ever decide to candle or not?

quail kid 1~ I don't know about you, but the 1 week left mark is where I start to get really excited. LOL, must resist candling every two seconds....LOL. Let us know what you find!

I am at 6 days left and candled 2 days ago for the first time as their mother it incubating them, i saw a big air sac and opaque the rest, is this right?, it wasnt a bright light just a torch, any reply would be nice. thanks

If by opaque you mean dark, hardly any light shinning through, then that sounds right to me. How many are you expecting? What kind? and keep us posted

Lock down this time tomorrow night for me...Soi candled tonight so I dont disturb them for too long tomorrow when they go into the hatcher beside my bed.... It meant tonight I also put the 8 ten day olds out in the lounge room.. I will miss them...But at least might get a good nights sleep without the brooder lamp on beside me.

I can see movement in 6 of them...right at the base of the air cell- But the big egg worries me..It still got alot of clear space in it..I was always most worried about that one- The aircell doesnt look big enough on that one either

..So at this stage I am going with 6 eggs set to hatch in 4 days.

Good luck every one... Hope we all have great hatches.

she is sitting on 20 eggs and i candled about 10 of them and all i saw was an big air sac and opaque the rest of the egg. They are khaki campbells and are jue on the 31st. will post pictures when/ if they hatch. i am really worried about if they will hatch or not. Can anyone give me reasurance?

JoshSnape~

Sounds like where mine are and we are due on the 27th. I can't be sure, but it sounds right to me that they would be mostly filled in by now, with large air cells. You are on day 21...yeah mine were mostly dark by then. By day 24 the air cell can take up 1/3 of the egg. I would relax. Momma is probably doing a great job!

Mine are all still young. Do you mean ducklings, like from a broody, or just ducklings? My first four where offish unless I had treats. LOL. Though, even though they act like they could care less about me, they often come over to the gate to check me out if they hear me on the porch. My second group of 11 are still in the house, and they are MUCH braver. They do the whole "Run away, Run away" thing when I open the brooder, but then flock back over right away and will nibble my hands and jump for my hair if it is hanging down. I can hardly get them away from me enough to clean the brooder properly. They are very funny. I love them all, even my older ones. I think they are pretty, and I love it that their coloring allows them to blend into the sceenery because we have alot of predators here. My first four may start laying in a month or two and the others are only 3 weeks old. I don't expect any to go broody, or even if they do to be very good at it. But if one or two does, cool. I think, if I want to hatch any out I will stick with the incubator. I really want some Dark Kahkis in the future.

Any. I wasnt expectacting mine to go broody but she did, now sitting on 20 eggs, imagine if they all hatched. Definatly will post pictures, Keep you posted, anything i need to do to the pond she has got in her pond.
