I'm sorry to hear it too chickboss - it's hard to wait a month and then have that happen.

quail kid1, have you been misting them with warm water? Do you have enough ventilation? My humidity has run about the same as yours. Can you get a pic?

Yes there is 4 holes in the incubator, I only misted them once at 16 days of incubation, Ill try to get a pic tonight and post it on here,
should I worry much?

Well, I lost a duckling after she hatched but I have another one hatched, SO I am still at 10 duckling. I have no idea why that one died.

Congratulations! I am sorry about the one who died. Sometimes with critters you never get to know. We looked at out egg this evening that didn't make it and it had a deformity. A patch of skin on the base of it's skull was missing and flesh look blubulous, LOL, I know I spelled that wrong. I am helping Pigeon. (My daughter named her regaurdless of my warnings that it may not be a good idea, so now that's what we call her.) I gave her an air hole earlier, and that was probably good, considering she had been internally piped for quite a while. But she started to shrink wrap. I have to say, this sucks. I don't really want to have to make these kinds of decissions on my first hatch....Its gonna be a long night....

Come on Pigeon....You can make it little one...stay strong..You have some wonderful people there wanting to meet you....

I hope she makes it out alright for you..She will be a very special one...

Sad news on the big egg....I was turning the eggs in the bator that are due in two weeks... And checked on the big one...I could see movement!!! So there is some very slim hope yet...But the saddest thing was that i saw the beak moving around too..It looks like the little one is trying to reach the menbrane to pip...But the egg is just too big and I feel it wont ever get to draw a breath... I am feeling so sad after seeing that little beak... I think there has been a noticeable difference in the size of the air sac overnight though..just the timiest bit...But hopefully it may keep going fast enough to give this little one a chance to pip internally at least.

How exciting!!! Can't wait to see pics of your babies!!!!

Pigeon is still with us, though she seemed weaker this a.m. I was able to peel things back carefully enough to see that she still had a small amount of yolk to absorb, so she is wraped in a warm wet cloth in the bator. I need to get some electrolytes, I think she is going to need them.
