iamcuriositycat- I agree with you 100 percent! we're so far removed from traditional medicine practices, and the cost is high, both monetarily and healthwise. there's a pill for EVERYTHING these days, but we can't outsmart mother nature, think about anti-biotic resistant pathogens, or the poor women who were told to take prescription calcium supplements, only to break their hips and femurs by simply walking down a flight of stairs because the supplement had replaced their bodies' nature ability to absorb and use calcium.
This past year I've tried to make-over the way my family eats, and make them really think about where their food comes from. we've planted apple and peach trees, berry bushes, and grow a variety of veggies in our garden, we're looking to buy a side of pasture raised beef, and of course, raise chickens for those lovely nutritous eggs(that's my favorite part). I hate to toot my own horn, but my ladies started laying one week before the latest recall(I realize it isn't the first recall and won't be the last, but still, I feel so darn smart for that
)
It is rewarding seeing my daughters care about their health and make clear conscious decisions about the food they put in their bodies. I find many of the aspects of the industrial food chain quite appalling, and I know I alone can't "fix" anything, but opting-out of as much of it as I can and raising my girls to do the same does make me feel better about a lot of it.
I will most certainly be trying out the ACV drink as flu season is nearly upon us. and I think what I will try with the "funky toe" is I'll first try making a wrap to put on it for a little while everyday, and if that doesn't seem to work I'll soak it. I hope it does work, I've been looking at this ugly toenail for years.
Thanks for your input!
