April 1st. setting.. *hatching*| need a buddy.

I am putting them in lockdown at noon on tuesday. cant wait! I am going to be so excited if i get some that hatch. I'm hoping for at least 5 of each kind, I would be happy with that! Fingers crossed!

hahaha, willpower???? l have none... I tell everyone daily that I am not touching the eggs anymore..then just mere min, i am in there" under my broody's butt" candleing again.. it is just so cool to see movement. coolest thing ever. I am jealous that yall have so many set! I am putting my boody on lockdown, too, tues evening. I mean, i am not going to take her out to poopy or to feed. I figure I will let mother nature do what she does best!

ty for the compliment on the mug shot! That is Becky. she is a BO. she is very very vocal .

Two more days until lockdown & 5 more days until the due date!! I think out of my 16 original eggs, I have 8 good live eggs at the moment. Not bad. I will candle them all tonight and toss the bad ones. (I have 12 in there currently.) I hope I have a succesful hatch and a LOT of pullets!

I have lock down on Monday also. I have one little duck from a staggered hatch already in lockdown. I can candle him (kinda) in the incubator if I turn all of the lights out and he is working away in there. My digital control on the incubator says 99.5. By Brinsea spot check says 100.4. Hope it isn't too hot in there for him, but hate to change it at this point.

This is the first time I've done chickens. They are Rhode Island Red, Black Sex-link, and Barred Rock. I am so excited I hope all goes well. Their air cell doesn't look too big, but I maybe comparing it to the big duck eggs. : ) I've kept the humidity at 45. Now do you turn it up to 65 to hatch as well????

Those temps sound just fine!

I hope I can figure out the humidity thing. It's been sticking about 38-40% humid in there right now with one vent open. My air cells are ... um.. interesting... so I hope it all works out.

Yep!! Tuesday morning for me as well. I set mine at 8am on April 1st (Friday). I have 8 that seem good out of the 12 currently in my incubator. I don't want to toss any questionable ones right now.

I lost my wax baby tonight. No movement and just seemed to be taking up far less space in the egg. I cracked it open and it appears to have stopped growing around the day that I dropped him/her. So sad. I was so proud of myself for saving her.

I saw movement in all my other eggs except for one but I think he/she just doesnt have much room. Air cell looks good and veining looks good. All 6 go into lockdown tomorrow evening at 7:30pm (EST). I have been trying to find the sweet spot on my Hovabator for almost a day. When it reaches a temp, it stays there but I am at 106!!! So I will spend the night going backwards to get it down to 101. I like the knob on the Hovabator a lot better and I like that the lid sits inside a lip. Once the temps are steady tomorrow my egg turner full of new eggs will go inside and my 6 will stay in the LG.
